Terry, the opinion seems to be that Addazio will not be the OC next season. He may stay and take the OL and perhaps an assistant head coach title. Another opinion is that he will go to Syracuse where his son is playing and be a coach here. The majority opinion also is that Meyer will not fire him as a coach. That Meyer likes and respects Addazio, but that Addazio may take the step to leave himself. It has gotten ugly in Gator Land where it comes to Addazio and I am not proud of many of my fellow Gator fans.
He was an excellent OL coach at ND and he was there when Urban was there so I assume there is a friendship that goes back at least that far so I can understand why Urban will not embarass his friend by firing him. Mack Brown has a similar problem with Greg Davis our OCoord, Texas fans have wanted Greg gone since the Chris Simms days but Mack has stood by him, this year was too much and Greg will not be fired but will assume other duties, most likely administrative and there is not likely to be a cut in pay either. I wouldn't be shocked if something similar happens to Addazio.
BTW: Somebody said that Kiffin's infamous quote that "you'll be pumping gas" if you sign with So. Carolina ...was about Alshon Jeffry and he will be making millions in the NFL soon!
nice showing Cocks... even the slow white backup is running wild on you.... Gary Danielson can win all the awards and acclaim you'll throw at him, but I honestly think he's nothing more than a towel waving fanboy of the SEC. I didn't like him prior to this, and I don't like him now.. It's a shame, with the power the CBS/SEC combo has, you'd think they'd get better..
We talking sports or politics? 8) Corey.....Danielson speaks the truth......the SEC has been dominant in the BCS Title game for 4 straight years. No one outside of the SEC likes that fact.......but it is inescapable. Good thing this Auburn team isn't ranked behind Ohio State in the BCS because after such a mundane showing vs. South Carolina today there would no way the Tigers could pass the idle Buckeyes in the BCS standings......
It's not that which I question.. it's the 'why' they get the pass.. If it's bowl winning, then please, by all means.. let's get the Mountain West in there.
Why do some.....such as yourself.....continually dodge the actual performance of the SEC in that BCS title game? The Big 10's flagship university in this century.....Ohio State.. was easily vanquished twice by the SEC in those 4 years.....Florida defeated by 10 points one of the highest scoring offenses in NCAA history when the Gators beat the Big 12's OU and then last year Bama caps off a 14-0....dominant year by taking care of Texas. Why don't you question the resume of those teams that are getting soundly defeated by the SEC before you question the SEC? Wouldn't that be more logical?
You make a sound argument on the surface but I believe the SEC has entered once beaten or even twice beaten a few of those years. This year, the man who 'speaks the truth' has gone long out of his way to say that letting TCU or Boise play for the title would be a travesty to the game. I've heard the man say that even a once beaten SEC Champ SHOULD be automatically in the title game over any other team from any other conference regardless. The guy makes several appearances a week on the Finebaum show.. He isn't just waving that flag on TV one day a week. He made the statement today that he's been making for weeks. If you're not voting for Cam Newton, then don't vote. Read that again, rinse and repeat... WHAT THE F*CK? How dare anyone else possibly vote for anyone else in the nation than Cam Newton?! So much so to the extent that he is basically telling you to not vote if you're thinking about voting for anyone else.. This isn't a misspeak on his part, he's been saying it on the Finebaum show since the recruiting scandal broke out. Sheesh, I don't even know why Oregon will bother to show up for this game.
Geez Corey, your dislike of the SEC colors your thought process. Danielson was simply making the point as to what kind of year Cam Newton has had and was in effect saying that if you can't vote for him because of the controversy and don't know who else to vote for leave it blank. Just who would you vote for and why? I know how much it bugs you that the SEC and especially Auburn is that good but 5 straight years in the championship game is quite an accomplishment and I think most people would agree with that. As far as the teams records, Florida had a loss both times, LSU had two losses, the only time that has happened I think, and Alabama was unbeaten. But they won regardless, most of them pretty decisively I believe.
Well I'll be pulling for Oregon to end the SEC run, but to tell you the truth Oregon looks fast for sure, but Auburn looks big and fast. I am guessing that Oregon will be at least a 10 point dog in the game. Terry
I think Oregon is too small to put up those pinball type of numbers against a big physical team that is also fast.
Take the "over". Auburn's defense is vulnerable. South Carolina mount no pass rush whatsoever. Newton had 30 seconds to find receivers.
After watching the best effort that Spurrier could come up with in such an important game for SouCar get absolutely leveled I have to feel that the Gators just dodged a bullet by losing to the Gamecocks back in November.. I couldn't see anything except embarrassment yesterday for my team if they had been there instead of Spurrier's team. Auburn was at the top of it's game yesterday and the Gators haven't been near the top of theirs all season against good competition.
Vegas line opened with Ducks as 3 point favorites. So the Big12/SEC guys (sans KP) see the Ducks as a wash, but the money likes the Ducks... follow the money Actually, this will be interesting. Auburn hasn't seen anything remotely close to the overall team speed of Oregon.. They aren't just fast, they play fast. Like Auburn, they play with a lot of tempo and emotion... The biggest difference.. Oregon creates turnovers on defense in the secondary. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a back and forth game get busted wide open by an Oregon INT that flipped the field. Oregon will probably send the house. They don't care. They throw their defense under the bus to gamble and try to create turnovers. They do this because they are sure they are going to score points. The two teams are actually quite similar in terms of the tempo they like to play at..
Bill neither of those things matter but honestly, I'd vote for Newton.. even thinking he's on the take. I'd just strip the trophy if he were found to be dirty later.. which I think is going to happen. That's not the issue.. the issue is.. you're free to vote for whoever the hell you want to.. For the love of God the Southern media has voted for the Southern darling forever.. The Western media has typically voted for the best player out west although I don't see that happening this year. The Eastern vote has gone for an eastern or midwestern candidate.. The point is, you're free to vote for whoever you want... it's a free country. Here you have the mouthpiece of the SEC broadcast network telling people that if they aren't going to vote Newton, don't vote at all. Really? Why not the Oregon RB? He's had a great year and there's no one saying his daddy whored him out. I've heard Danielson say that there's no way anyone could possibly vote for another player in America without having the credibility of their vote challenged.. Really? Is that so.. what about people who believe this is yet another dirty southern player? It's not like it would be a first..even this year! Those people for taking a moral position should be called into question because they dare vote for someone else? As I said, I was no fan of the guy before he joined CBS and now he's just off the chain... ALso as I said... if the guy just made this comment or comments off the cuff during a broadcast, I'd be more tolerant.. This is a campaign he's been running... At what point does he stop being a reporter/media personality/commentator , and just becomes a full fledged mouthpiece for the conference?
It will certainly be interesting. No doubt Oregon is maybe the fastest team in the country, and it will be interesting to see how a "SEC" Defense handles all that speed. Remember Chizik is the guy who built the Texas defense that was able to handle all that speed that USC had in 2005.
