I do believe the team was a tad overconfident on Sat. and they instead found themselves in a dog or should I say hog fight. UF has already dispatched Ky 41-7......but I do think SC will be an Arkansas type battle. WRT Tenn-Bama I think the Vol defense should worry Saban especially at the Qb position. That Tide defense will be tough on Tenn though. Bet the under...
Not to many teams get through a season without a game like this one the Gators just had where everything goes wrong. When you can get through that game with a win, and if it wakes you up, then there is the possibility of a special season. Right now there doesn't seem to be an overwhelming team out there. The Gator weakness are real and have been discussed at length here and elsewhere. Alabama has a really tough defense and running game but doesn't seem to have a good passing game. They did not score an offensive touchdown against S. Carolina until late in the 4th quarter. Texas had a tough time against Oklahoma without Bradford. All three of those teams could stumble so let's see how it plays out. We could end up with Iowa and Boise State.
I guess I'm not the only one with this opinion. Oh well, it's only a game. Good luck to the Gators the rest of the way although they probably won't need any. You guys take care. http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_bianchi/2009/10/how-badly-did-sec-officials-rob-arkansas-against-florida.html http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_college/2009/10/sec-says-officials-made-the-incorrect-call-on-personal-foul-penalty-against-arkansas.html
Thanks for the good wishes Jeff. However nowhere in those links did I see the word fix and the SEC admitted the mistake. Who knows what would have happened if the call wasn't made. The interference did seem like interference to me. I've said before when I felt we were screwed by the refs that they are human and make mistakes, this time it went our way. But fix???? I hardly think so.
I doubt if his editor would allow that guy to use the word fix, but he that was a pretty scathing attack on SEC refs. But as was pointed out in the posts to his blog, Arkansas had their opportunities to overcome and didnt'. Funny story, a guy I know who was at the game was in the gate area for his flight back home when a USC fan sat down next to him. He said 'good win" to the guy and the guy said well "your" refs tried their best to keep you in the game. The Trogs were called for a number of poorly timed personal fouls. Funny thing is that the refs were PAC10 refs who most ND fans complain about only 2nd to B10 refs. The USC fan couldn't believe those were PAC10 refs and not ND refs. Bottom line is that USC over came their penalties, which to me were richly deserved and I even thought one of them late in the game was clearly an intended late hit to injure the ND guy and he should have been ejected IMHO. But like some of those great FSU defenses they just kept playing aggressive shaking off the personal fouls and hitting through the whistle I believe is the theory.
I don't understand the PF if it was actually called on the hit shown. That was a very bad call and never should have been made and I do not agree Arkansas needs to have overcome bad calls like that....I think those calls shouldn't happen. On the PI I agree with Bill in that it looked like the right call as the DB pushed the WR in the chest while not even looking toward the ball.
From CBS: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/12389074 I hope UF doesn't get this crew again this season because inept refs can call em bad either way......you never know.
SEC Commish has admited nobody can see the Personal Foul on the Ark player, and that was the same crew who screwed up the LSU/Ga game. That crew needs a permanent vacation or some serious retraining.
I absolutely feel that penalties should be as reviewable as the plays themselves. They review spots of the ball, out of bounds calls, TD line calls and possession disputes so why not penalties? At least they should review all penalties in the 4th quarter of all games.
Hey Rick, Arizona fans now the experts on the SEC refs? A couple of bad calls don't make a conspiracy, but hey I agree with Terry evaluate these refs. I don't think they are in a class with the ACC refs who were at the Swamp a few years ago, but they should be evaluated. Terry, I agree.
