Last year the committee put SMU in after they lost to 17th ranked Clemson. Oh well I guess every year is different.
Well that punt being downed inside the 10 and then the Tide failing on 4th down pretty much doomed them and they had 2 great defensive stops then that TD pass sealed the game. 28-7 UGA.
I'd forgotten about that SMU thing, but in that case SMU lost, after a great comeback, on a last second FG by Clemson. I doubt if they had been beaten by 3 TD's they would have been included. Same here, I do think if the Tide lost by 3-10 points or so in a competitive game they'd be in, but UGA has just dominated them, at least to this point.
Herbie just said Miami is in and that ND and Alabama are likely out or something like that. Of course Miami like ND didn't play today.
You are preaching to the choir here, Clemson should not have been in and certainly not over Alabama. Just like there is no way Virginia and Tulane should beat out ND, Miami, or Alabama.
Frankly I was not very impressed with Georgia tonight either. Smart has the monkey off his back though against he Tide.
FWIW, I’m don’t think Alabama can win the NC. I really hope the SEC stays at 8 conference games and we stop trying to schedule quality out of conference games. There is no upside to it. Also there is no upside to being in the conference championship game. Maybe we can move to the AAC.
Yeah once we gave up those 2 turnovers early it was pretty much over. And yes , like I said earlier, the big winners today were the teams not playing.
One thing that might be helped by expansion to 16 teams is the parity in the SEC. Texas and Vanderbilt both are playoff worthy teams and with the depth in the SEC it's going to be nearly impossible to go unbeaten like Ohio State and IU have done in the Big 10. Also we need to ditch the Group of 5 team and the auto conference bids, if it's a 12 team playoff then the top 12 should go and if it means a Conference is left out then so be it.
Wow! What a concept. The 12 best teams in the playoffs? I think if you take the 12 best teams that’s probably enough. You’re going to have the same problems if you go to 16. I don’t think JMU or Tulane belong in the playoffs this year. Who you play has to count more than just the number of losses. By the way, I really don’t think Alabama is one of the 12 best teams this year.
I disagree, The Tide along with Vanderbilt are in that group of 12. Texas is close. TOK's ranking 1. OSU 2. Georgia 3. Texas Tech 4. IU 5. Oregon. 6. A&M 7. Ole Miss 8. ND 9. Miami 10. Alabama 11. Oklahoma 12. Vanderbilt.
I like your list Terry, but I think it's very possible TT is going.to be ushered out rudely. Their sched is not impressive and they will meet some physicality they here to for have not seen, especially with a bye.
