I don't understand the Alabama game plan on offense. But congrats to Auburn, they played really well and might be the best team in the country right now.
I have to wonder if they have anything left in tank for the SEC Championship game, UGA has had a couple of easy wins the last 2 weeks. Also I'm sure the clip of Gus bragging on how they beat the dogsh&t out of them will be played to the DAWGS. But for now they're the best team in the country.
When ND lines up to play Stanford tonight, that will be the 10th bowl team out of 12 opponents. The 2 non-bowl teams are 3-8 North Carolina and 5-7 Miami (OH). Who needs a conference?
That's quite a scene at Auburn now. Isn't there a fine, by the SEC, for allowing the fans to rush the field.
If their only loss was to Clemson, I think a case could be made for Auburn being the best team but they also lost to Fred Flinstone and the LSU Tigers, I have a hard time buying into it. Auburn is a team with some holes, but when you're talking about being the best, you gotta execute to take advantage of them. I'll be surprised if Georgia doesn't beat them in the SECCG.
nobody has any money for fines. After you get past the contracts, coach's buyouts and signing bonuses for the recruits, they can barely keep the lights on
so back to my point about schedules. On every channel they are still talking about Alabama like they are in the playoff and the biggest reason is 'that schedule they played.' Alabama finished the regular season having played 6 bowl opponents. TWO of those bowl opponents are Colorado State and Fresno State....So they finished 5-1 against bowl eligible teams. For full disclosure, I did not count 6-6 Ole Miss who I believe isn't eligible for a bowl..
Agree with Corey that Auburn is NOT the best team in the country... especially if Johnson is out. It will be interesting to see what the committee does, but there's still the champ games to save them from themselves. If Wiscy wins... that takes a lot of pressure off... What if Uga wins convincingly... and Wiscy wins, and then TCU wins... I'm kinda of the school you need to be the champion... and had Bama scored on that last drive and then had a shot with the onside kick you could say it was a good loss on the road. but they didn't... they did look playground. I don't see them getting in unless a BUNCH of 2 loss teams are all the committee has to choose from.
If the Buckeyes beat Wisky next week, they will likely be battling Alabama for the 4th spot. OSU had a horrible loss to Iowa but will have beaten three top 15 teams-Wisky, PSU, and MSU. Alabama can point to being only a 1 loss team but their only victory over a top 25 team is LSU as I assume Miss St will drop out of the top 25.
I don't think Alabama played well enough today to jump over Georgia if they win and I don't think at this point that a 2 loss team (Auburn) should be in in any case. That sounds a lot like no SEC team in if Georgia loses next week.
My sister is posting videos and doing a Facebook Live from whatever the hell the name that stadium is called that Stanford plays in.. Levi something or other.... Whatever, GO IRISH! It's my brother's first Irish game, he's all sorts of fired up. I think they're on the 25 yard line about 4 rows up
still a lot of ball left. Oregon is going to hang 100 on Oregon State at this rate. I really feel bad for that Oregon State team.
While I agree that Alabama didn't play well enough to win today, I still think they are one of the top 4 teams.
Terry, I have said all along that 2 loss teams shouldn’t be in the playoffs and the one loss teams should have a quality loss or win their conference championship . That was not a quality loss today.
