When he was the HC of the Baltimore Colts in 1969 and they had the great team lead by Mike Curtis their MLB and Johnny U as their QB, I didn't really like him. But that was more that I was anti-NFL and pro-AFL since the Oilers were in the AFL.

Later on as the Dolphins coach I came to appreciate how great a coach he was, he was a family man, and a really good guy.

Great career, lots of well deserved accolades. RIP Coach.

    Truly a legendary coach.

Shula, Belichick, Chuck Knox and Marty Schottenheimer were all Lions assistant head coaches.

Great Shula moment for me as a kid growing up in the 70’s who idolized the Dolphins was when our local football team played against a team his son was playing on and Shula took the time afterwards to sign any autograph us kids wanted. He was very kind and thoughtful to get each kid who asked

Never liked the guy. He hired Howard Shellenberger.

    RIP Coach
