ESPN reporting that the Lions have fired their president and GM. One can only hope that for once they won't hire from within this rotten organization but actually retain someone who can effectively run a pro football franchise.
William Clay Ford's Widow now is the owner. Martha Firestone Ford is 90 years old. Her executive decisions are where the rubber meets the road.
Interesting Lady, I looked her up. Some where along the line I had also looked up Edsel Fords 1st wife who was also a society matron like Martha. They got married on Long Island in a big Catholic wedding. They got divorced but I seem to remember she remained a high profile individual.
So Terry I mentioned our discussion to Mary. Now, having grown up in Grosse Pointe, she is an amateur history buff on auto magnet socialites. She thinks you may have confused Edsel Ford with Henry Ford II affectionately called Hank the Deuce by Pointers. He married Ann McDonnels who was a Catholic. He was supposed to convert prior to the wedding. Pointers are skeptical on that having occurred.
Peyton Manning is done, he'll probably play the season out, but he's done. Just physically doesn't have it any more. Great career, first ballot HOF, and a guy you can look up to for sure. Always does the right thing, and is really good at commercials!
I lived in GP Woods for 17 years....and in the GP section of Harper Woods before that. Shores Inn, Trattoria Andiamo, Telly's and in years past The Golden Lion, The Blue Pointe, The Log Cabin, all were places I have had a drink or two. It was a great area back then... a great neighborhood and community.... just not so sure post-recession if it's the same. On a football note.... my fantasy team lost Arian Foster, Laveon Bell and Dion Lewis all to season ending injuries within a span of two weeks.!! But yesterday my man Matt Jones... a rookie from UF and a late round draft pick for me....got me 27 fantasy points..... and I will move my season record to 7-2-1.
