Devastating loss for the Brewers yesterday. Cards were aggressive during the trading deadline while the rest of the contending teams in the NLC were not. I think the moves they made will allow them to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.
Today's paper states he pulled himself out of the game due to a left oblique injury. If it is serious, he is likely out for 4 to 6 weeks. Brewers can put Estrada back into the rotation but he has pitched poorly for the last month. Cards have been able to overcome their injuries because of their depth which also allowed them to make some good trades to patch the holes caused by the injuries. The Brewers have little to no depth and its farm system is pretty dry except for some very young A ball prospects. If the injury bug hits Milwaukee, the party is over and the state will turn its attention to the Packers.
AJ, are we going to get some consistent hitting? That's what we need. I like that Taveras is going to be the man in CF, he's very athletic and should develope in to a heck of a CF, better than Beltran. Also he seems to have good bat discipline doesn't really strike out a lot does he.
Doc I don't know...this has been the weak part of Cards BB the last few years. Since the trades, there seems to be a resurgence of the bats....but like yesterday, if Garza doesn't get hurt, he may have pitched a shutout. Good pitching fools the entire roster with these guys most days.
