Re the HBP, the replay was not definitive enough to overturn the field call but not sure Taylor was hit. If somebody were smacked in the hand by a 97-mph fastball, you would think his hand would immediately move from an involuntary pain response.
Here's one for the Dodger Dog. So many big names, Kirk Gibson, Dennis Eckersley, Lasorda, Larussa, Mark McGwire, Scioscia, Sax, was Rollie Fingers on that team? Oh yeah and the legendary voice of Vin Scully.
That starter from Oakland kept missing up in the zone and the Rays didn't miss those opportunities. The A's have been a gritty team though. I wonder if they come back to make this a game?
I miss Yandy (for the Tribe) but we did get Carlos Santana back for him who had a monster year...and also Jake Bauers. Happy for Yandy.
re: Gibson The Big Dodger in the Sky personally intervened in that one... - Sorry to see the lowest paid team in MLB advance tonight. The A's were everyone's best hope to eliminate Houston. Now the Rays may be in over their heads.
Good news about facing the Rays is that we don't face Charlie Morton their Ace till game 3, but the Rays have played us very well during the regular season. We played them 7 times and their record against us is 4-3. So won't be an easy series for us.
Tampa Bay has been horrible with attendance this year, do you think they'll sell out for the ALDS? They only average 14K fans per game.
Corey, JO'Co...would you agree with this? From a discussion on InsideTexas LA/WAS series is intriguing. The Nats match up well against lefties, and the Dodgers are lefty-heavy. Nats could give the Dodgers all they want, but it's hard to pick against Los Angeles. Would not be surprised at all to see the series go 5.
I was only 5 and more into Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob than the Dodgers..1955 I was starting to become a baseball fan and remember the World Series win over the hated Yankees. For the life of me I can't figure out how I became a Dodger fan, I've never been to Brooklyn, my dad was a Tigers fan. I have no recollection of why I chose the Dodgers.
The Nats were the least favorite matchup for us. They're a good club that gives us trouble. Their Big Three aces, Scherzer, Strasbourg and Corbin are as good as anyone's and they're a major headache for a five-game series. The lefty vs. lefty matchups are less of a concern. Most Dodger lefties, like Bellinger, Seager, and Muncy, actually hit lefties better than righties.
The Nats pitching matches up well. However, Scherzer has been absolutely hammered in his last few starts by left handed hitters. I think the Dodgers are gonna stack the lineup against Scherzer with left handed bats and either dare him to get better, or get beat. The Dodgers are throwing Buehler tonight. Of all the incredible pitchers in this series, he's the most likely to have a lights out game. The Dodgers have a lineup that can beat you 1-8 while the Nats rely on Rendon and Zimmerman. This should be a great series
How about them Red Birds AJ??!! They scraped out a tough win on the road to take the series lead. The Dodgers pitching and hitting take the day against the Nats. Buehler is a stud.
Corey, your a former Manager....what would you do with Ronald Acuna after that lack of effort on running out his hit?
I would send him home now, before his teammates kill him. You can't make chicken salad out of Chicken sh!t.
The young Dodgers look fabulous. A rookie pitcher (Buehler) and a rookie catcher (Will Smith) combined for a one-hitter and Gavin Lux became the youngest Dodger (21) to hit a HR in a playoff game. As I knew, all of the pregame analysis was worthless. Muncy had a big day and Joc Petersen made his at-bat look like Home Run Derby. The young Dodgers are having fun...
