Wow....I see you never read Gator message boards. You can't get a read on everyone in the southeast just from Bill and Wendy. Some of us do feel the best football is played in the SEC.....but I can understand why someone in Michigan or Ohio would say how the best football is played in the Big Ten. Opinions......everyone has one....
MCG... Are the OFFICIAL BCS rankings out yet? No. Therefore nothing is current because it is all speculation. If you want it more current, then click on the Paypal icon on that page and pay the man to update it. You blurted out that it cant be current because those two teams have one loss. That right column projects them with one loss.
They absolutely should factor in the huge wins and at the same time not dismissing huge losses.....there are two sides to the ledger and they both count. From my perspective, the losses should be a greater negative....great teams are supposed to win big games. Great teams do not lose to lesser opponents or by definition they cannot be great teams and should be judged accordingly, imho.....
MCG, you seem to be basking in the afterglow of a very convincing victory over archrival LSU, but it still is too early to determine if that was a significant win. LSU may well be a very good team but their first three games prior to FL did not show that to be the case. Their game with Auburn was close, but this year's version of Auburn so far is pretty mediocre. Granted, lopsided wins over archrival teams are exciting, but in years when the archrival is down (witness ND vs. Michigan 2008) they can be misleading as an indicator of your team's status. Wait until you've gone through a few more key games in your conference schedule before concluding who is "deserving" - and who is not - of a BCS bowl berth, much less a spot in the NC game.
Interesting interpretation you have....it looks like you got it about half right.....  In October, your Gators are 1-1. You lost to Ole Miss in the Swamp and beat LSU and now you are a great team with the inside track to the NC game. Congrats.
Maybe I wasn't talking about the Gators BT ....although the win over LSU was a great one it doesn't make the Gators a great team....yet. They still have the potential to be one though and the LSU win gave life to that hope that UF will be a great team at the end.
TOK, the Big12 is loaded this year with an embarrassment of riches. I can't remember a conference with the number and caliber of talent at the QB position.....it is truly crazy good.
Funny when the B12 was a baby it was not a pass happy conference, it was a power running conference. Passing games were for sissies!! But part of that was because Neantherdal Texas HS football coaches believed that and so we developed RB's and OL's geared for the run and QB's who handed it off to them. Plus the HS rules severely limited anything that could be done in the offseason, no going to camps or anything. California was where the QB's could learn to pass, they had 7x7 offseason drills. Now we have that in Texas and the kids can go to camps. So you see what you see a huge state crazy for HS football with the Spread Offense being run by more than 50% of the schools I'll bet. It's not suprising that the top B12 QB's are Chase Daniel, Graham Harrell, Colt McCoy, Todd Resisling and they are all from Texas. Of course with so many B12 teams avg in the 50's, I'm not sure what it says about B12 defenses!! There's always something isn't there.
ahem.....aren't you forgetting somebody?  The soph from OU is the best of the bunch and frankly one of the best soph Qb's I've ever seen anywhere.....
You mentioned the critical factor he's at Trailerhoma!! He sucks!! Seriously though I did forget about him, he's certainly had a great 2 years, and the thing about it I don't remember him from recruiting and I follow it pretty close. I wish I had a clip though of Segio Kindle putting him on his back in that game, I liked that a lot!!
I'd say....in all seriousness, has there ever been a QB that has been more productive in his FR and SO years? Ever? I'm not sure who it would be....the kid is spectacular.
I have to second that statement. I believe the Big12 is the top so far this year. Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, TT, OSU all are very strong. Now, without a playoff we don't know how that would stack up against Alabama, LSU, UF, UGA or USC, PSU for that matter. 8)
The Big 12 has beaten each other.....the SEC has beaten each other. Last I looked the Big 12 champion was beaten in the bowls by BSU and WVa while the SEC Champion was smoking the Big Ten 10 Champion. Out of that how could I draw the conclusion that the Big 12 was tougher than the SEC?
It could have something to do with the SEC third place team getting beat by the Big Ten team that was trounced by App State last year. ... and the SEC runner up that beat Whisky last year is now going to be lucky to manage a .500 season. Dave, when I see your posts, I can't help but think of you as a Palestinian that cries foul when the rocks they throw are met with Israeli missiles in return.
