If Miami didn't blow the 1st qtr giving up a fast 21 to Oklahoma State, they probably win that game. Even though they lost D'Eriq King at the end of the 1st half.
Texas is off to a fast start in the Alamo Bowl, 14-0 late 1st. Texas Rb, Bijan Robinson, a true freshman who blossomed late in the year is having a great game so far. He was highly recruited and was the 2nd rated Rb in the 2020 class.
Tidbit on Texas, They named 7 players Captains to start the season, and 6 of the 7 quit on the team leaving only Sam Ehlinger. Sorry, opted out is the politically correct term.
Wonder if there is a French translation for opting out that they can use when discussing WWII. Texas is smacking around their former conference brother.
Big win for the Longhorns last night an injury to Sam Ehlinger, gave backup Casey Thompson the helm. It worked great, Thompson had a great game for his first extended action and now has a leg up to be the starter, and Robinson the RB looked great as well. He was the offensive MVP. Who will coach them next year is the question.
Terry, do you think Ehlinger will come back next season with that extra year of eligibility or opt for the NFL?
He's been a bit cagey about that Don, he's accepted an invitation to the Senior Bowl so if he follows through then he can't come back. I'm not sure if the coaching situation will impact that, they kept talking about the # of QB's coming out this year and that next year might be a better year. But I can't imagine he'd improve his draft stock by coming back, after 4 years as the starter it would seem like there would be little room for improvement. The other thing people have talked about is that with the Name/Image/Likeness rules going into effect next year that Sam could make a fair chunk of cash in Austin. He's going to go in the late rounds and possibly even be undrafted. I can't see another year zooming him up the draft board.
I know Colo was shorthanded due to Covid playing only 48 scholarship players but the talent differential between the two teams was striking. Texas’ players really a whole lot lot bigger and put a beating on the Buffs.
The most impressive players were both freshmen, Alfred Collins on Defense and Bijan Robinson on offsense. Chris Ash coached JJ Watt and both the Bosa's and he says that Alfred Collins has more talent/athleticism than any of them. High praise indeed. Again, will Chris Ash get to coach them next year or will he and the rest of the Herman Staff be elsewhere.
Interesting tidbit, Najee Harris and Ian Book played on the same 7x7 team in High School, Book was a jr and Harris was a Soph. People were already talking about Harris, nobody knew who Book was though. That's Najee standing behind Book both holding trophies.
Joel, I consider that a vote of confidence for ND. Only a 12 point margin. That may be the most generous you've ever been toward our struggling program.
Clemson Offensive Coordinator (Tony Elliot) will not be at the Ohio State game. He's in Covid Protocol. They have a plan for alt dates if the CFP games are not able to be played because of Covid issues. There has been no indication from the teams or the CFP that a change will be necessary, but if both semifinal games have to be postponed, the CFP has targeted Jan. 11 for The Rose Bowl Game presented by Capital One and Jan. 12 for the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The makeup date for the College Football Playoff National Championship presented by AT&T is Jan. 18 -- one week after its current date of Jan. 11 -- at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
