That was the top of the first. Albert was 3rd in the lineup. St. Louie let him know how much we appreciated his past service. Then he hits a 1-1 rifle shot to left for #680. And then we gave him another standing O.
I've always liked Freddie Freeman, but now I'm a bona fide fan. What a class guy. I always have considered the unwritten rule of retribution to be asinine. He handled it beautifully, IMO. MLB fans loved how Freddie Freeman responded when the Nats intentionally hit him with a pitch
Brew Crew combined for the seasons record 9th no hitter last night. Corbin Burnes went 8 innings and closer Josh Hader finished off the Indians who have now been no hit 3 times this year.
AJ how far from the Motherland to Milwaukee? Maybe Bobda can pick you up some tickets? Milwaukee Brewers star Christian Yelich is purchasing 10,000 tickets to an upcoming home series and giving them away for free, the team announced Wednesday. Yelich, 29, is buying the tickets in appreciation of the fans for next week's four-game series against the second-place St. Louis Cardinals. "The fans are a big part of what we have accomplished this season," Yelich said in a statement. "We want American Family Field to be rocking for that last homestand. And we want to give back in a way that shows how much we all appreciate the enthusiasm and support of the best fans in baseball." The complimentary tickets will be available beginning at 11 a.m. ET Wednesday at brewers.com/yelich. There is a four-ticket limit per game.
Cards have a really good shot at the last wild card, whoever doesn't win the NL West will be guaranteed the 1st wild card slot, right now it looks like their competition is the Padres.
Indians get no hits for a record 3 times in a season...then two days later go out and score 12 runs. Oh well....
Father Time is finally taking it out on Zach Greinke. He's not been good since the All-Star game and some are wondering if he should even be on the playoff roster. His comments on the state of his game after the Rangers took him apart on Tuesday night. “It got a little bit better when my slider was doing good for a while. It’s been bad again the last two games especially,” Greinke said after Tuesday’s start, in which he allowed seven earned runs in five innings against the Rangers. “Righties just hit me good. I can’t get any free strikes against righties. Every time I throw a strike, it’s like a swing pitch. Against lefties I throw just a fastball away and get a lot of taken strikes or an outside curveball and it gets taken a lot. But righties, I don’t get any taken strikes. So if I’m not getting ‘em to swing out of the zone, it’s tough for me to get ‘em out.”
As dramatic as the result of that call was, it didn't lose the series for the Cardinals. As I often have said over the years, then to my son, and now to my grandsons who play baseball, especially when they feel responsible for a loss, the game's outcome does not hinge on one play or one call. It's a series of plays and calls which add up to the result. It's collection of "if.....then" situations. I know that doesn't change the losers' or the fans' reactions (a la the infamous Steve Bartman catch), but it's why I didn't feel sorry for the Cardinals then, and I don't feel sorry for them now. By the way, I was rooting for the Cardinals in that series.
Cards are 10 wins in a row now. Not gonna win the NLC, but the hottest team going right now. 2006 anyone?
It's always good to finish the season playing your best baseball, Cards are hot now and that makes them dangerous in the playoffs. What's happened to the Cards? Have they had a lot of players injured who are now healthy?
