I'm not making excuses but that was a different Tennessee team that beat Georgia than the one that lost to Cal. By the same token that was a different Georgia team that lost to Tenn. than the one that beat Florida, thumped Auburn, and thumped Hawaii. That's why I think it's hard to put a great emphasis on the regular season results. So many things can happen, injuries (Dixon at Oregon), young players stepping up (Moreno at UGA), and motivation (Cal vs. Tenn) that affect teams from the beginning until the end of the season. I grant you, Corey, that teams don't have much to play for in bowl games sometimes but at least most injuries are healed (or enough time has passed for replacements to be found) and the teams are established at each position, not to mention the immense preparation that the coaching staff has time for.

- <t>Aquila,

I appreciate what you're saying. Its just a different way of looking at it. I like to look at the whole season, including the bowl game. I don't think you can put heavy stock into the bowl games until they are for all the marbles.

TOK, BOBDA,

I did mean to give kudos to you for that. Good stuff.

Bobda,

I've been meaning to make a contribution to your foundation. I'm still wondering what the prize is for answering the newsletter trivia question correctly? You remember, the one that was something like ....'What's higher, Vince Young's wonderlic score or his NFL QB rating?'</t>

Forget what facts? I was villified on this board for suggesting that Tenn was a less than qualified SEC East champion because they were massacred by Florida. Truth be known Georgia is the one that screwed their own pooch by losing to the Vols because the Dawgs did not have to play LSU from the West as did UF. Georgia also caught Florida at their most vulnerable, unhealthiest condition all year. But not to worry because Georgia's brutal schedule this year will allow the Gators to return that favor. Tenn played nobody of any consequence from the West in 2007 and skidded on their ass into Atlanta by eeking out comeback wins over Vandy and Kentucky. So it goes in the tough physical SEC....a conference that can only show it's true mettle by whomping the Big Ten's behemoth champion Ohio State in the NC game....which by the way won't happen for a third time unless the Buckeyes beat USC. ....BUT.....should OSU beat USC then look out....a third consecutive beating by the SEC is in the offing much to the dismay of many on this board....
umm <t>I don't wanna interrupt you fapping to the Tebow centerfold of SEC digest, but you might want to check the update I posted in your section tonight. The "SEC uber alles/Big10 sucks" topic. I've got some bad news for you.

It turns out the pac10 and big12 have a heck of a lot more to do with keeping the big10 down than the SEC does. In fact, your conference is responsible for one-half their bowl wins in the past 5 years and is the ONLY conference competing against the big10 that doesn't hold a winning record head to head in bowl games..

So here you are..in a Pac10 topic, taunting the masses with your SEC propaganda while ignoring the cold, hard numbers...and pointing to the 'system' as justification for your greatness.. a system created by your long-time commissioner designed to benefit those who wanted to 'play ball' the chicken-fried steak way... please make use of the tissues on your way out.

resume fapping.

Leave us panzy arsed sushi eaters to our 2nd tier programs and on-field success.</t>
