Tom, my take on the Vols is that no matter whether Oregon comes back in this game or not Dooley has shown he can get the best out of his players. And you can't ask much more than that. I guess you can ask that he can recruit, but you know what keep it up and that will take care of its self. They are fun to watch right now.
This is the second time I have heard this but an interview with Dooley was just shown where he had his first team meeting and asked how many players have never played a down in Neyland stadium. He was shocked when about 2/3 of the team raised their hands. This is a very young team and will be a force in years to come if not this year.
3rd quarter not looking so good. We come out passing when the run was what we were doing well in the 1st half. I kept saying: Run the ball! What happens, pick six. We have completely abandoned the run and it is time to punt to an Oregon offense that has momentum. This Oregon drive will be the knife in the heart of Tennessee or it will be the rallying point for Tennessee to come back. Tennessee down 13 - 27.
Tom, I think that Oregon's superior depth was to much as the game wore on. However I have to agree with what you said earlier, more experience and depth and Tennessee will be a factor.
Three plays... three runs... first down. 4th play, Simms drops back to pass, sacked for a 8 yard loss. Unbelievable.
Well, the first half was fun. The sharks are smelling the blood in the water. The youth and lack of depth is showing. Congrats to Oregon.
that was my fear for Tennessee... Oregon is lightning fast everywhere. If you make a mistake anywhere on the field, it could well be 6... and that's what happened. UT is headed in the right direction though.
Fast...fast...fast... When the Vols were up 13-3, I was thinking "The Ducks play in the loudest stadium in America and they get in shootouts all the time...they're going to explode on this young Tennessee team." Then they did, but I agree with Corey. Dooley has this program headed in the right direction. Vol fans got lucky on their last coaching change. If they had watched USC get outhit and outplayed at home by lightly regarded Virginia tonight, they would realize just how lucky they are. They dodged a bullet. Kiffin's Trojans had only one outstanding stat for the night: 140 yards in cheap-shot penalties, while winning a close one 17-14...
I think UT fans should stay well behind their coach on this one. OU is one of the best teams in the country it appears to me and maybe they will be THE OU in the BCS title game. I see next Sat.'s UF-UT as being a battle down to the end.
