Stu, I don't know about anybody else, but IMHO using my 20/20 hindsight Tressel and Ohio State probably did as much as they could to keep him from self destructing. No doubt like any coach Tressel probably put up with some stuff that he wouldn't from a 4th string TB who never played, but I don't think that means they used him and tossed him aside. It's very clear now to me that Maurice was the problem, not the system, not the man, not Ohio State. Terry
I agree, Terry. Most coaches who are successful seem to be good people who take a strong personal interest in their student-athletes as people, not just athletes. Of course, there are exceptions, but looking in from the outside, I see Tressel as fitting the norm.
Tressel is a very good coach....I do not fault him....how much did he know about the false term papers or doctored exams or cars or cash I dunno. But I seriously doubt he was in total obscurity......look at what happened to Tressel's counterpart in the basketball program....an absolute disgrace.....dont forget about that going on at the same time The Gonz
"No Miami coach has ever been arrested for selling steroids....what ******** is that?" http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?sec=health&res=9B0DE5DC1130F931A15756C0A961948260 Seems that in Miami it's difficult to tell the difference between the truth and ********.
