Early congrats Bill. I don't normally throw in the towel this early, but this one is over. You didn't win because of your speed, you win because of the strength of your O & D lines. Even if Smith turns into a miracle man Flutie, their D can't stop you. Enjoy your victory. I might watch a little in the 2nd half before hitting the sack. Chalk another one for the Jiffer !
Ohio St. band just played the theme from the Titanic. Might as well. Looks like Urban is blackening the "eye" in OHIO tonight.
jaysus <t>it appears tOSU is trying to wrestle away from us the 'Rodney King/Reginald Denny Memorial Award' for worst televised beating...<br/> <br/> We can't do anything right this year.</t>
Holy Toledo... I am at work teaching a C Shift class (7pm to 1:30am) I just gave the class a break to find the halftime score a little shocking. It will probably be over by my next break. I Tivo'ed the game to watch after work tonight though.
Shocking to say the least. The Gators are clearly the better team, tonight, the Buckeyes can't match their emotion, their speed or their strength along the lines. I think most of us would agree that if there was going to be a beat down, that Ohio State was going to be the team administering the beating. BILL!!! WAKE UP THIS IS NOT A DREAM!!! STU,DON,WHOBE...DON'T WAKEUP, IT'S A NIGHTMARE!!
Wow. Fla offense has shredded the Buckeye's defense and, with Ginn out, Ohio loses most of its quick strike capability. It looks like the Bucks have no idea how to attack the Gator defense. Tressel's decision to go for the 1st on 4th and 1 on his own 30 was a completely out-of-character move caused by desperation in knowing that this game was turning in a rout.
Ohio State defense is playing much better in the 2nd half, but the Gators aren't letting the OSU offense off the ground. If I were Urban I'd be carefull about getting too conservative in the 4th Qtr, it's hard to turn the offense back on if the Bucks get a couple of scores.
Well scratch that there is no chance the Gator defense is letting the Buckeye offense off the carpet. This has to be the worst Heisman Trophy winner performance, ever, in a bowl.
41-14....man this is starting to remind me of another Fiesta Bowl that the Gators played in....some time ago! Maybe people will stop talking about the Irish getting beat down so bad.
This was an unbelievable night to me. A lot of things I would not be surprised at happening, but winning like this was not one of them. This Gator defense was unbelievable and the offense was pretty good also. As I guess you know I am estatic.
Nope, no questioning of Ohio States belonging in the bowl by Longhorn fans. In fact most Longhorn fans were big Ohio State supporters this year. Terry
Congratulations Bill, that was an amazing performance by the Gators against a very good football team. I have to say that when Urban went to UF I doubted that he would be able to do all that well in the SEC, but he's proven to me that he's the best coach in the SEC right now, and probably along with Tressel and Pete Carroll the best coaches in the NCAA. He really had the Gators ready for this game and had a masterfull defensive game plan and just took away all of the aggressiveness of the OSU defense with his play calling. They didn't know what to defend.
Stu, Whobe....we'll always have Austin! Seriously, condolences. I know your team came up short, but it was a great run this year. Big 10 Championship, Heisman Trophy, win over Michigan....that's a lot of achievement. Terry
Bill & MCG, Congratulations on the win this evening. Not anything like most of us anticipated, but a very deserving win. A tough way to end the season for my Buckeyes, but it was all Gators tonight. Chris Leak has to be a very happy man and it looks like Urban Meyer has found a home in the Swamp! Don
Thanks Don and I have to admit I did not expect the game to unfold the way it did. I agree with everything Terry said a couple of posts above and feel very good being in the company of teams like Ohio State and coaches like Tressel. I wouldn't mind a repeat down the road.
Thanks Don and others. Chris Leak deserved his MVP and Fla was unbelievable tonight. I think the answer lies somewhere in a big mix of Urban Meyer being an awesome bowl coach, UF's speed being underestimated, Ohio State being a little flat after the Ginn return ( seen it before), Ginn's injury ( to a slight degree), the power of the UF DL and everything else that I am speechless about. One thing...UF held LSU to 10 points and Auburn to 10 points w/o the fluke lateral return play at the end, the blocked punt and the replay guy. The Gators have played great...and I mean great defense all year.
