Have fun, guys...am indeed in Fla...golf today. Will be watching...might even go to Big Al's sports bar with Jeremy...brought my jersey just in case. Was at the Navy game with Crazy John...was a great time...very emotional when the OSU band played the Navy Hymn...big flyover during the National Anthem...both teams ran out together instead of seperately. I agree with BT that we got complacent...we were really in charge of a good football game until Tressel went for it on 4th and 2 instead of a chipshot field goal...up only 15 late in the game... I asked John "What was up with that???" and then the very next play they strike us over the top for a TD...I told John "That's why you kick the f@@@in' field goal!" A most un-Tressel-like decision. Line play will decide this game coming up...and I gotta say that my money would be on the USC lines. I can live with a loss if we play well and don't get steamrolled. Inexperienced QB won't matter if we can't stop their running stable. Tressel was asked why he thought that everyone was picking on OSU regarding not playing well in the big games and he said that probably it was because it is true. For those that didn't see the Navy game, Pryor really played with a poise that he didn't have last year...didn't take off running when flushed and kept looking for receivers...spread the ball around well though not too many deep balls...threw pretty well, too...might not help him much this week but I look for him to have a good year.
I agree that Navy is almost impossible to prepare for because your practice squad can't quite duplicate what they do every week. I think we will see a different Buckeye team this weekend against USC. I still favor the Trojans but it's not fair to compare last week with this game. RC
I'm sticking with my prediction in spite of articles like this: http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/10054606/Barkley-won't-be-fresh-meat-for-Buckeyes OSU 31 USC 27
Tough Loss for our Buckeye friends, the Bucks played their hearts out and were poised to win before that last drive. Everybody said the USC OL would dominate the Buck's defense, but that did not happen. OSU went toe to toe with them and except for that last drive they whipped them. It was an exciting game and that crowd was really jacked up. All-time record attendance for the game as well.
I agree...... tough loss and I am willing to give the Buckeyes tons of credit for their toughness and for showing up to play but I also agree somewhat with some of these harsh assessments of Pryor and perhaps some conservative play calling by Tressel: http://cfn.scout.com/2/898406.html This is one that Ohio State let get away and probably shouldn't have.
Disappointing loss, but I could see it coming with our inablility to cross the goal line in the second half. Defense played great, crowd was great and Pryor was very medicore to say the least. Barkley had his problems early on, but performed very well on that last wining drive. He looks like a winner. I was surprised that our defesne held the USC to so few yards with that vaunted running game. (Except the final drive) Don
A heartbreaker to be sure.....a game of missed opportunities on the one hand and an extraordinary effort late on the part of SC. We had many opportunities to put that game away and just could not capitalize....we let them live and they stepped up with the game on the line. Incredible poise for a true frosh in his first road game under very difficult circumstances. Hats off to young Barkley.... Defense played well enough to win, a very ordinary effort from TP and the offense but the SC defense played a large role.... Great game, both sides got after it all game and nobody backed down, we had plenty of chances to win and just couldn't get it done.....congrats to a fine SC team on a well earned victory. Rumors as to our demise have been greatly exaggerated....
