Yeah you're right. I thought since I didn't see the game on the early schedule it wasn't there, but they do play mid season.
Seemed so simple to me... Play each other once and only once and in a six team division it can usually mean all the marbles when both teams are competitive. Twice though Tenn has played for the title after losing to UF and once UF did the same. That is very frustrating for the team that won during the regular season to watch it's hated rival play for the title anyway.
Hated in a football sense Tom. I think the term accurately describes the OSU-UM rivalry for instance. I guess you could use the term.....intense if that is more PC.
I think this structure is the right solution at least from our perspective.....maintains the game and maintains it's traditional place on the calendar.....if we have an opportunity to beat them twice in the same year and in back to back weeks, so much the better..... I know that Barry Alvarez is not happy with the alignments and would seem to be the one that has the most to be unhappy about....desparately wanted the Huskers as his "protected rivalry" game but instead, Penn State will get the honors of annually showing our new friends how we do things in the Big 10.....Husker, looks like I'll see you next October in Lincoln....
Things look preety good for the Buckeyes in the realignment of the Big Ten Conference. The Game being retained for the last game of the season, etc. Hower, I did not realize this agreement is only for 2011 & 2012. Possible future expansion could change things dramatically. http://blog.dispatch.com/blog-18/2010/09/fear_that_the_game_could_be_mo_1.shtml
