Thanks AJ, It will be interesting to see how we fare on our first road trip, with mainly inexperienced players, at some key positions.
Hey AJ how big a Longhorn fan are you this week? You known that now you are in theB1G that those west coast teams are your mortal enemies!!!!!
That may be the only thing we have going for us Ralph.....I just don't have a good feeling about this game. We're just missing too much, too thin, too young to be able to match up on the road against a talented Miami team.....I expect them to play well and compete, I'm just not optimistic about the outcome.
Ralph, I think Terry and I have similar reservations about this game. Hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised. :?
Buckeye Rebels will be victorious today against the Criminal Empire!! What are they calling this game tonite anyway? The Tat's and Strippers bowl?
You know what this means don't you???? Mark May and Lou Holtz were right!!!! I still don't care for J.Harris he is way too careless with the football but we won, whew.... I don't understand why the Buckeyes did not call a timeout the later part of the game???
 Congratz Ralph and Gonzo where ever you are! Wow! Jacori is still terrible, but the Canes ran right past the Buckeyes like they were standing still. The speed difference on defense was incredible! It looks like you finally have the right coach in Golden. Big win!
re: Why didn't the Buckeyes call timeout late in the game? A deer caught in the headlights. OSU might want to get a permanent head coach at the end of this season. This game was a serious mismatch on the sidelines...
Oh my, I have to agree with Jim on his analysis. Hopefully we can rebuild and hold out for two more games, before getting back some much needed suspended players. Braxton Miller had to be a disappointment to many fans. Still young and green. Bauserman did not look like a fifth year player. Defense really did not play that badly, other than the rushing game. I can see maybe another three losses for this season? Congratulations Ralph, Miami did what they needed to do even with a couple interceptions by the Buckeyes.
Pretty much as I expected. I hate it when I'm right... like that. Congrats to Ralph. Canes did what they needed to do. Struck early before we got our legs under us, held on and closed with a great drive with some clutch plays to seal the deal. We just don't have enough experience and/or maturity at any of the skill positions to be a credible threat against a talented Cane team. Jordan Hall is a great playmaker, having him slowed by cramping problems wasn't helpful, but he can't do it alone. The O will be a whole lot better when Boom and Posey return and we can put Hall in the backfield with Boom or use him in the slot with a material threat downfield in Posey. Until then, we're gonna be anemic..... Don't get excited Husker, you'll get to see a different team, although we may have two losses at that point and still be undecided at QB with a young head coach still learning on the job.
While it's a little early to tell, but what are Buckeye fans thinking in terms of Fickell? Are they hoping he'll get the interim tag removed or do you guys want to have the AD do a traditional search for a big name coach? Is it strictly on how Fickell does this season, if you lose 4 games or so, would he be done?
It's a LOT too early to tell. I like Luke Fickell a lot but it is unfair to him to speculate one way or another at this point of the season, especially given the plate he was served. It may be that he is not yet ready and not experienced enough to be given this job without any other head coaching experience...I have no idea if the AD is leaning that way or not. I have no idea what record in this handicapped season should he be expected to achieve. But I think it ludicrus to try to start ripping him or glorifying him at without seeing at least one season as a body of work. I can think of some coaches who started slowly but came on strong...and others who started with a bang and then crashed. Congratulations, Ralph, and you too, Gonzo.
Everybody loves Luke.....Luke is an outstanding recruiter and position coach. An alum, hometown legend and die hard Buckeye but has zero head coaching experience anywhere much less at a program with the demands on the leader such as this one.....it is not an entry level position where one gets on-the-job training. I think it's pretty clear that Luke is not ready for this job, but I'd love to see him stick around if he is so inclined. We need a coach who's experience and qualifications are consistent with those required to be successful in the position.....
Buckeye Terry, Agree with your thoughts on Luke, but if a big name coach is named after this season, I think it would be very difficult for Luke to remain in the fold, for both himself and the new coach? Like Stu, I think it is very much premature to be making any concrete predictions on Luke at this point. Nice article in the Dispatch Sunday about Luke's family. I did not realize Bob Hoying is married to one of Amey's sisters. They all live here in Columbus and a very tight knitted family.
