Pretty harsh assessment of Coach Tedford there Corey....I think the guy did a helluva job adjusting at halftime. The Cal kids could have folded the tent down 20-7 in the first half on the road in front of 105,000 against a pretty decent team.

They came out after halftime and absolutely dominated the third qtr and took the lead. Defensive adjustments literally shut down our offense and they had their way with our defense - albeit in a couple instances with our able assistance. That typically doesn't happen without pretty good leadership

Nah, it's a macro thing at this point T.

It has nothing to do with you guys. I've just seen this act at Cal play out over and over again. Don't get me wrong. The Bruin in me wants to see him stay there forever. But the Pac12 guy in me says he's gotta go. He loses at least one mystery game a year (he's already done that and it wasn't you).

His play calling down the stretch against you guys was terrible. He puckered. Again, I've seen him do that as well. The best Tedford teams are great defensive teams, in my opinion, that overcome his puckering.

I've heard the calls for his head before from my Cal pals. I use to laugh at it as well.. but honestly, they will forever be 7-5 for as long as he's there.. and this year, they may be lucky to get 7-5. I guess we'll see how they come up at the other end of this run of Ohio State, USC, Arizona State and UCLA on their schedule. I wouldn't be shocked to see them lose 3 of 4, if not 4 of 4.

Gotcha Corey...the team we played yesterday was not the same team that lost to Nevada....at least I hope not.

Yeah please don't take that as any slam at Ohio State or negative slant on your team. You guys are an exciting young team and I think you're doing really good things there.

You made a good point. The team that lost to Nevada and the team that was outplaying Ohio State in the 2nd half in Columbus both made their appearances Sat night. That's Cal football under Tedford. There are games in which they come out and fight you for 4 quarters and can beat anyone, anywhere regardless of their personnel. Then, there's other Cal teams (often the very same team) that just tank.

In that game, you guys were on the verge of breaking out the whooping stick. Then, Tedford changed what they did (sign of good coaching) and they began to stretch you guys wide with that incredible perimeter speed (the longest opponent TD run in the history of your stadium? Holy cow), and then gash you running down hill while hitting you with quick play action slants. You guys went from being in total control of that game to being on roller skates in 2 possessions. You guys showed no ability of being able to stop what they were doing while struggling offensively also, then for reasons known only to Tedford, they stop doing what works without you guys ever showing you could stop it.. Then when the game is on the line, he tries to go back to it only to find he's lost control of the game. From the standpoint of a Cal fan, that has to be incredibly frustrating.

I see good things for you guys this year. There's a lot about Urban and what he does that I like.

    Ditto.

From what I see of the Big Ten Urban will own that league.

Nice win for the Buckeyes. As far as dominating the league we will see. I see some very good coaches in the Big 10, for starters Michigan, and think the league will be very competitive.

While the Buckeyes won today over UAB, we appear to have some serious problems, going into the B1G Ten schedule next week.

Our defense seems to be very porous both on the rushing game and pass defense.

Offense is being hurt by lack of execution, stupid penalties are killing us and our inability to convert on third down situations, will be our downfall if not corrected.

Only bright spot was Jordon Hall gaining over 100 yds today.

Sparty is probably licking their chops?

Don, are you sure you are not watching the Tennessee game? That last post sounds like you are discussing our team.

We're just not a very good football team at this point....offense is about as expected. Very inconsistent, but very, very explosive when everybody is on the same page.

I was so wrong about this defense....I thought they had a chance to be a very good unit. I was wrong....we're just not very good. The supposed strength of the team, the dline has yet to live up to their pre-season rep and our LB and secondary are just not playing very good football....have appeared fundamentally unsound and way too many mental mistakes.

If we don't play better than what we've shown thus far against Sparty, they will have their way with us.....what can I say? Sometimes ya just gotta tell it like it is.....

4-0 and ranked...not too shabby. It will be very interesting to see how you guys do going into visit Sparty...naturally at this point I'll be rooting for Sparty out of self interest. :)

The game in East Lansing turned out to be more defensive than offensive today. Buckeyes did a great job containing Bell, but gave up a lot of passing yardage to Maxwell, but no TDS.

Braxton Miller is fun to watch, but three turnovers sort of ruined his resume'.
Our defense holding Sparty to three field goals and one TD was outstanding.

Carlos Hyde saved the day for Ohio State on that last possession to run out the clock.

We need more consistency, but hopefully that will improve as the season progresses.

Didn't see the game, was watching Ryder Cup, but from what I read it was a solid win. 5-0 start, not sure who can or will beat you in B1G play.

Defense came to play against Sparty as the front 7 really stepped up and took the big kid out of the game. Great job...I saw real progress from this group.

Offensively, continues to be a work in progress. The young QB is exciting to watch but also be maddening at times with his decision-making. That said, I suspect if you want to take advantage of his youth, you better do it soon, because once he gets a year of the system under his belt, he's gonna be a real bitch for opposing defenses....

Gutty win for this group in a tough place to play against a good - -not great - but tough and well-coached football team. Any win in ELansing against a D'Antonio coached team is a good one....

Huskers next week...should be a good one.

I see where ABC is going to carry the game next Saturday evening. Good news for me w/o cable.

Lets hope we contine to see improvement and I agree with you Terry about Braxton's decision making at times.

Really pleased with Carlos Hyde's performance when it really counted.

Now that the Huskers are out of the way, we move on to a night game at Bloomington Saturday on ESPN.

The Hoosiers stymied the Spartans for three quarters with their air attack.

I hope we do not let down from the high after defeating Nebraska.

    GO Bucks!
