This is a very broad definition and only elaborates if contact is made. This is no different from tax law or general law for that matter. If Bills interpretation of the rule is correct, then why don't QB's just spike the ball outside of the tackle box, instead of heaving it pass the LOS ? Just spike it every time a defender bears down on you and call it an oops play. As with any fake pump, the arm will always start to go forward. When the arm motion is heading down, unimpeded, it is no longer forward, therefore, not a forward pass. [/quote]
MCG, If the SEC office has come out in support of the call, you might want to back down on your opposition to that same call. I remember you using the SEC office reprimand of officials on other calls as a license to chastise the officials’ actions. If you are going to use the SEC office when it goes your way, then you have to accept it when it does not.
Why do we give any credence to the head of SEC officials. After all he buys gas at a convience store that is rented from an individual who used to be married to someone whose cousin dated someone whose brother went to Auburn. How he ever qualified to be head of officials is beyond me.
AJ, my understanding is that it is once the arm has started forward, also the ball was batted by the Auburn player once it had left Leaks hand so it was hardly being thrown to the ground.
Tom, the SEC said there was not enough evidence to overturn the call hence they supported it. However the head official also said the replay offical should have called the timeout to review and therefore Florida should not have been charged a timeout. Now even though he blows right by this statement that could have made a major difference in the game. Hey like all these discussions there are people on both sides, but to me the rule I posted is pretty clear, the arm goes forward and the ball comes out it's an incomplete pass. It's now history though.
haha <t>Cindy, I thought I was doing a pretty good job. I like MCG just fine, but it amazes me that the Gators never lose a game in his eyes.</t>
