Every president in the past few decades has want the US to be "energy self-sufficient." Our domestic production has come a long way in making that a near reality. However, with the saudis and Iran flooding the world market with oil cheaper than we can obtain through fracking, many of our domestic companies will be forced out of business. One of the real bright spots in our domestic economy has been the energy sector. Those jobs have had some positive impact on our unemployment rate. Now however there have been quite a few layoffs there and many more to come.
Thousands of Americans are going to lose jobs in the energy sector, Our oil dependence will be again on foreign producers. But Dave's saving on the price of gas so who gives a damn?

The sky isn't falling for some in the industry according to this article:

    http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/05/investing/oil-companies-bankruptcy/

Those in trouble sound like speculators and fly-by-nights poorly leveraged.
Just the types that usually do get in trouble first.

The strong will eat the weak and capacity will march on.

Here's an article the discusses the impact of the energy boom. It's more than just the jobs in oil industry directly but in suppliers and transportation.

That's what I like about Facebook... There is an amazing tool that allows you to block the idiots... to never see what they have to say... for them to never receive the wisdom that you have to impart upon them...

Speaking of low gas prices, Winn Dixie gives you money off on the price of gas. Because we had 3 of the kids and half the grandkids here for Christmas we went through a lot of food....and wine. Put 14 gal. in the car today, cost.....$2.92.

Two gas stations in Orlando are almost $6. I'm assuming nobody is actually filling there?

    http://247wallst.com/energy-business/2016/01/25/gas-price-hits-5-99-in-orlando-highest-in-us/

I filled premium this morning for $1.76. Regular was $1.45.

Just so it's clear, when I posted that the cost was $2.92 that was for 14 gal. not for each gal.
