No, Terry. Brennan is my cousin's son. He is not actually a nephew, but I referred to him as such to keep things simple and avoid repeated explanation. I haven't spoken to my cousin in about 4 years, so I don't have an update on how his life is going. The nephew referred to above is my brother's son (a graduate of FSU). The family has been in Orlando since the mid '80s.
ND <t>Looks like Urban is trying to lure our 2016 OT from Ohio(supposedly a 5 star and #1 Ohio player for 2016) to tOSU. Comments from the kid would indicate he's solid with ND though.</t>
Tim, No doubt going against Urban for Midwest kids got tougher, and the competition for small nucleus of top Midwest kids got even tougher with the addition of Harbaugh to the mix. But when you think of it, when was ND at it's best? During that Holtz run, Bo was at Michigan and was a formidable foe on the recruiting trail and so were all of the great Ohio State coaches from Woody on down to Bruce, Cooper and JT. We have to stay on top of the Cincy area which has a lot of talent and is not nearly as likely to just default o OSU or Michigan. Not to mention that these days everybody poaches, our top recruit spent the last year as a UCLA verbal. Kelly just has to stay on top of our guys and of course win.
Tommy Kraemer says ND has no reason to be concerned over OSU/Meyer contact. "Not at all." "There are so many reasons," said Kraemer on why he is committed to Notre Dame. "I have a great relationship with [offensive line] Coach [Harry] Hiestand and I feel like he can really help me reach my potential. Beyond that, once my football career is over, the degree from Notre Dame is going to carry so much more weight than anywhere else. Finally, it's a perfect fit for me. I'm Irish Catholic and grew up in catholic schools my entire life. It will be an easy transition." 247Sports has him as the #4 OT and #26 overall player for 2016.
we can't get Urban and the Buckeyes on the schedule fast enough. The longer we stay away from them, the more of a threat Urban is in recruiting. Even if you play and lose, it's tangible. There's a chance for progress. There's always the chance you'll win. If you leave it up to media and perception, Urban will kill you in recruiting.
Following up on my above post about my nephew, the teacher at West Orange HS in Florida. Second semester classes started yesterday, and he has Jalen Julius in his class. Says JJ is a very polite and respectful young man. Sounds like our kind of guy. Fingers crossed.
ND <t>Terry, <br/> <br/> I read the comments Kraemer made too. Anything can happen over a year but the kid seems to be 100% Irish for all the right reasons but if you're the coach of Ohio state and your number one recruit in the state for 2016 commits elsewhere you have to give it your best shot. Looking forward to seeing this young man in Blue and Gold.</t>
ND <r>Ref D. Williams:<br/> <br/> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <br/> <br/> I hope these players who are announcing signing day and supposedly coming to ND do not end up biting us in the butt, we(Irish Fans) know all to well how these have gone in the past. <E>:?</E><br/> <br/> By the way, I see McKinney flipped to UNC. Pretty much expected the last week or so. Academics supposedly.</r>
Re: Men's Basketball There are some very interesting stats and facts in this article. For those interested, it's a good read. http://www.und.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/012115aab.html
Don't know if it was acdemics or not. AT UNC you can get a degree for doing nothing. At least you could for the last 18 years.
George, The article on Scout.com was rather vague. Something about a secret visit to NC or unannounced if you prefer. You might be right on in your views.
The story is supposedly that Prentice will not be academically qualified to be admitted to ND. He tried, took the test over and did worse the second time around. He was encouraged to look at other options.
I really don't mean to sound like a jerk, but when is the last time we lost a kid to North Carolina and that kid NOT wind up being investigated by the NCAA or at least part of a probe by the NCAA?
