Nice win by the Irish. Auguste didn't really play much and both teams went small for most of the game. Irish trailed the whole first half and got down by as much as 11 in the 2nd half before they found their 3 pt shooting shoes and wiped out the Miami lead and won at the end. Best start for ND basketball since the late 70's. Gip needs to post the current thoughts of the Commish on the state of ND basketball!
8) There was a TV show on tonight about Bishop Gorman. Notre Dame has several recruits there, as do other schools. Snoop Dog's son is a WR on that team...
The Bishop Gorman HC just took the job as HC at UNLV. I have a hard time wrapping my head around a big successful Catholic HS in Las Vegas. In fact I have a hard time thinking of Las Vegas as anything other than Casino's, Entertainment and stuff like that. But Gorman has been a Nat'l Power for awhile now. I think we've had a few of their players in the past but I can't remember them. On the recruiting front this past weekend the Irish had several players on campus including their top 2 remaining RB targets in the Williams kid from Fla who had previously been a Miami verbal and a kid from Tenn named Vaughn. Also had some ND verbals on campus who were taking their offical visits. Taylor kid from Cincy was there and the Safety from Indy, Mykelti Williams. There was also another safety named Meadors from So. Cal who is supposedly down to ND or UCLA. Usually when kids from So.Cal leave South Bend and say we are even with a West Coast school now that means they are going to the West Coast school. Wiltfong predicts Irish will finish with Dexter Williams, St. Brown and safety Anthony Farrar. Good Solid Class, not a great class like Alabama though. Irish Women take on Tenn Vols tonight. Vols are ranked right above the Irish and as usual are loaded with HS All Americans. Irish are 15-2 and Vols are 14-2, Vols have already beaten 3 top ten opponents. Our only common opponent is Chattanooga who we beat handily and the Vols inexplicably lost too early in the season. Should be a good game. Vols historically have owned the Irish Women, but lately Muffets teams have done very well against them. Hopefully that continues tonight. Freshman Briana Turner from Houston is having a great season for the Irish.
Here's an interesting article which describes how Kelly & company traveled to Las Vegas and Indy to re-recruit Stanley and Day. http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dfPtD?...m=newsletter&utm_campaign=notre-dame-football
I knew we had some Gorman guys...I'd forgotten about Ronnie Stanley. I looked up Gorman and David Humm was a Gorman kid and so is the current Cowboy RB, Demarco Murray. They have an upcoming MLB prospect in Joey Gallo who is in the Rangers They also have several current NBA players...not to mention Danny Tarkanian is a graduate!
ND <t>DaVaris Daniels enters 2015 NFL Draft.<br/> <br/> Not surprising and at this point....can't say I will miss him or his father. Everyone deserves a second chance but he had more than one. I wish him well and hope he has a good future.<br/> <br/> good part is we have never been deeper that I can remember when it comes to receivers and with the additional of a couple more in the incoming class and a TE that has great hands....we will be just fine.</t>
I think Daniels to the NFL is best for all concerned. I think I mentioned that he could have come back but that Kelly wasn't sure he wanted him back. Good luck to him. I'll be surprised though if he is drafted, I do think he'll get on a roster as a free agent and after that it's up to him.
What he did last year and what he's doing now tells me why he went to ND in the first place. He's where he wants to be.
ND <t>Looks like we have an excellent shot at landing Dexter Williams RB in this current recruiting class. He originally committed to Miami. we need another quality RB in this class.</t>
I'll be very curious to see Josh Adams this fall, he supposedly had a great St. year and maybe would have been ranked higher except for an injury that shortened his Jr. Year. With only Folston and Bryant having any experience one or both of those freshmen will see some games. Carlisle I guess could move back and C.J. Proisse really has shown some running skills on those Jet sweeps. But I'd just as soon that Folston and Bryant both have great years. Irish Women had an excellent win over the #5 ranked Vols tonight I watched the 2nd half and it was an excellent win. Jewell Lloyd really played well.
It's early but I think Procise and Carlisle need to stay where they are. They are effective on the jet sweep, and eventually they'll be effective on the reverse, but they aren't RBs.
re: Daniels Let me get this straight... He won't get a Notre Dame degree AND he probably won't get drafted either. I think his advisors used to work for Mussolini...
FWIW, my nephew (brother's son) is a teacher, head lacrosse coach and asst. wrestling coach at West Orange HS in Florida, where two of ND's recruiting targets attend, RB Dexter Williams and WR Jalen Julius. He sent me an email commenting on them and mentioning that we are recruiting their junior QB and WR for the 2016 class: [/code]
