I hope Jeff has a great year. Now that the Astros aren't in the NL, I think I'll be a Cubs fan and/or a Cardinals fan...I can't decide.
Breaking news....Gunner Kiel is leaving Notre Dame. No destination has been announced and he is enrolled for classes this spring.
He will need a helmet like Gaylord Perry's old ball cap. He has not used one second of eligibility and will be puttting on his 4th uniform.
George, why the negative tone? He's a good kid who got caught in a tough situation with a limited time frame. I don't blame him. It appears that he's going to finish the spring semester, which tells me, a) he takes his education seriously, and b) he's a quality young man with lots of friends. Of course, that can change if he leaves, but at this point, I stand by my assessment.
Kiel <t>No surprise to me on Kiel. Expected this to happen already. You never turn down the number one QB coming out of high school but he was not going to knock EG out of his strarting job and the real heir apparent to me is the kid they picked up in the latest recruiting class, Malik Zaire. Much better fit for the system Kelly want to run than Kiel. I wish him the best of luck.</t>
Sweep for the Irish Women in the Big East. Regualr season undefeated champion along with this! Irish Sweep
Interesting comments by Kelly in a Eric Hansen article on the SBT. Kiel to Transfer Note that all of Kelly's comments were before the rumors of Kiels transfer became public.
Never in doubt today, Louisville was the better team and at home they were not going to let the Irish have a chance. I also thought this section of the Brian Kelly interview with Eric Hansen was interesting. It sounds good, but you wonder if somebody calls and wants to discuss a job will he really just say no, and if he wanted to talk would Swarbrick fire him?
Irish Women had to fight hard to beat USF today in the BET Quater Finals...on to the Semi's vs Louisville.
Good weekend for Irish baseball. We went to the west coast to play a series with UCLA/USC/Oklahoma in Jackie Robinson Stadium. I think it's called the Dodger Classic. We lost to UCLA 2-1, beat USC 2-1 and beat OU 6-5. So 2-1 vs some traditionally very good programs. Maybe Mike Aoki has got this team turned in the right direction. He took over a tough situation and this is his 3rd year.
Notre Dame will join the ACC in 2013. http://college-basketball.si.com/20...t-to-jump-to-acc-next-year/?xid=si_topstories A later article states that ND will pay a $2.5 million exit fee to the Big East.
They really had to make that happen. There were rumors that they would go with the Catholic 7 for 1 year, but that would be a disaster outside of mens basketball for all other sports. I haven't read your link but I have seen that we paid no exit fee but instead gave up our share of the exit fee's they have accumulated. Probably a wash financially. But even if it wasn't it's a move that had to be made. The question will be what will our financial deal with the ACC be for this extra year and how will it impact the football schedule.
Stu, Purdue is playing and performing much better in March. I think they are very capable of upsetting someone. I just hope it isn't us!
Ha! If that ain't a thread hijack, I don't know what one is...I think you meant to post that on a different thread. But thanks!
