Tommy Rees will be back next year. There has been speculation that both Rees and Hendrix will transfer so that they can play now that Golson is solid as the starter.

Rees in the linked article gives his reason....I'm a Notre Dame guy... I have to admire Tommy, he was roasted (not necessarily unjustified) pretty badly by ND fans. Regular posts on boards everywhere to the effect I hope Tommy Rees never takes another snap, etc. This year though has been a little bit magical for Rees, he was the hero in several games and started the BYU game. So I'll be glad to see him back next year. If Golson gets injured at least we'll have an experienced option to go with.

Hendrix, I don't know what to think of Hendrix. He is Pre-Med and supposedly carrying a 3.5 or more so with the ND reputation with Med Schools he'll likely get into Med school somewhere. But if he leaves without a ND degree, that might make it a little tougher on him, maybe not. I'm not sure though if he'd be a certain starter on even a MAC squad. Hard to say.

Gunner, I really hope Gunner has a great spring and becomes the #2a QB over Hendrix. He seems like he has a lot of upside and when Tommy goes could be the solid #2. But for him it's all a lot more risky. If Golson plays the next 3 years as the starter then Gunner if he wins the job would only have 1 year to be the starter. Certainly would be tempting to move on to some place where the starter was graduating.

Malik Zaire..good thing for both him and us is that he does not have to be forced to play, he can sit and learn.

We finally have QB depth, far cry from when Dayne Crist went down in 2010 vs Mich and we had lightly recruited Tommy Rees as a true freshman and walk on Nate Montana who had never been a starter even in HS.

Bullcrap! Never justified. A very ugly aspect of ND fan culture.

If a guy turns the ball over as much as Rees did last year, criticism is always justified. It's part of the game, players understand that...but some of it was way over the top and too personal IMHO.

Tommy continued to play only because Golson was not ready and Kelly didn't want to waste his red shirt and he had no confidence that Hendrix was ready as well. Tommy was all we had.

They were at the Garden. Probably thought that it was the BE Tourney. Just like every year they choked.

Very disappointing...I don't understand why Brey kept Cooley on the bench.

Another crushing loss tonight to Georgetown at home. The wheels are coming off.

Forgot they were playing tonight. Something very wrong with this team. Before he season you had to feel we were going to be a very good team, not final 4 good but maybe Sweet 16 good. Cooley, Atkins, Grant, Martin, Cannaughton all back all experienced, some new fresh talent coming in and it really looked like another top 4 finish in the Big East.

    But something has gone wrong.

Our 47 points last night was the lowest output in a home game since a 57-32 loss to UCLA...on Jan. 29, 1972.........41 years!

P.S. Luke Harangody is playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (short for Mad Anthony Wayne, the general who fought in the Revolutionary War and after whom the city is named) in the NBADL. He is averaging 20.7 ppg and 13.7 rpg.

The brief history lesson is to clarify that the team's nickname does not mean angry insects.

I never heard of this publication before but Stadium Journy has named Notre Dame Stadium as the #2 stadium in NCAA behind Alabama's...AGAIN!! And the Notre Dame Hockey facility as the #1 college hockey facility.

    ND Stadium:

    Notre Dame Hockey

BTW for those who follow hockey, the Irish had a great fall season, but after the holiday break which was almost a month they have fallen flat on their faces.

Getting dicey with recruiting as we get close..

Our 2 stud RB's both were wavering it seems, but Greg Bryant has reconfirmed he's coming to ND with a Twitter post, but Folston is a little iffy although I've read that his coach has said he's headed to ND. He did visit Auburn recently. His family is the hangup apparently not wanting him so far away.

We have Duncan Smythe a pure TE from Texas coming this weekend and a lot of people think it's possible he pulls the trigger for ND.

Of course the guy everybody wants is Eddie Vanderdoes the big DT from Cailf. He's coming for his offical, but he is supposedly going to wait till National signing day to decide. There is another kid from Calif, the Fitts kid who we are battling UClA for will be in and another kid Hollins also battling UCLA is on the list.

Not sure what will happen with any of them though. The staff certainly has a lot of balls still in the air. Not to mention they have to decide on Carlo and/or Fox, what will happen with Slaughter, there are some guys who have medical issues and they could be done with football. I haven't heard of a transfer.

I don't think we'll lose anybody from here on out, if we do it'd be Folston I'd bet. Getting Vanderdoes on NLI day would be huge for this class, his visit will be pretty important.
