Dell Alexander needs to go. I think I heard something about the Slovis transfer stuff that makes sense. First of all I don’t think they wanted the info that they were talking to Slovis to get out but they are looking for and would take a good QB off the portal because…… Buchner being the mobile QB he is the chance of injury are there. You need someone on the bench that could come in besides Pyne if Tyler goes down. Heistand will be the Oline coach. Bank it. Two or three yrs from now it will be Chris Watt.
I'd like to see someone like Aaron Taylor get into coaching and return to his alma mater. I bet he'd be a really good one.
Yeah it'd be nice to have a former great return. Not many have though, Todd Lyght was a big failure even though he was a great player at ND and the NFL. Andy Heck has had a good career as an OL coach has been with the Chiefs since 2013. He had a son who was a very good college OL, I don't think ND even looked at him though, he currently plays for the Texans (poor lad).
Plan for the Fiesta Bowl and Covid. If Notre Dame or Oklahoma State has too many COVID-19 cases to play, Fiesta Bowl and ESPN will choose an alternate date for the game that falls before Jan. 8.
Sampson on HH. Highlighted is one of the concerns that I have. Offensive line is expected to be one of four candidates: Harry Hiestand, George Barnett, Mike Devlin or Justin Frye. Hiestand is the most known commodity, which isn’t an automatic, universal positive. The way he coached Notre Dame’s offensive line from 2012-17 may not be how the Irish want the position coached now in terms of style and vocabulary. Simply running it back to Hiestand 1.0 may not be a fit.
On Chris Watt, all reports were that Chris did a great job in his short stay on the Irish staff. He just finished his 1st season as the OL coach for Tulane. It's hard to imagine him taking a step back to a GA position at ND now that he has a full time position as the OL coach.
On how big the loss of Kyren Williams is for the offense. Tyree, Diggs and Estime will have to really step up. For the record while I understand that these players worry about injury that impacts their NFL Draft and career, I still am disappointed that they don't stay and finish the season with their teammates. Snaps: Williams 606, Tyree 195, Diggs 104 Scrimmage Yards: Williams 1,361 yards (5.53 per touch), Tyree 343 yards (5.0 per touch), Diggs 242 yards (5.37 per touch) Touchdowns: Williams 17, Diggs 4, Tyree 2
Diggs is my guy. I refer to him as Kyren Williams 2.0 because of his running style, which, to me, resembles Williams as a freshman. Too early to tell re: Estime, but the carries I've seen show promise. I'm not sold on Tyree. He hasn't shown anything special IMO. He's fast in north-south runs in space but doesn't have inside power (aka 2nd effort) and doesn't get outside quickly to cut to daylight. Just my 2 cents' worth.
So here is what I wonder. So far no player has opted out of a CFP game. I wonder if when they expand it to 12 teams (assuming they do) will that change and we will find players whose teams aren't in the top 4 still opting out of games because they don't think their team has much of a chance so why risk the injury.
I now think that expanding to the 12 team plyoff system is the way to go. Should solve a lot of these problems.
Let's hope the boys and staff make it to PHX safe AND in good health. Suppose top be there tomorrow. I guess the Washington State team and staff will have to have some Enchiladas and see if they can find another team to play them real fast here in El Paso.
Hey kids. The girls turned right around and buried the computer with their stuff and I just got it free for Christmas. If anyone wants to know my position on all that's happened, I got my "Freeman Rees Not f*cking leaving" hoodie for Christmas to do the talking for me.
Welcome back to the fold Corey, we have missed you way too long. Your reference to kids, has already given me more energy.
