They finished strong hit 14 3 pointers, played good defense. Have another bunny comming up in Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Bad news, incoming TE Eli Rairdon tore his ACL playing basketball. A lot of people were really excited about his potential. Probably won't see him as a freshman. I don't remember if he is an early entry, but having the ND Medical staff and trainers supervising his rehab would be a good thing. We won't have a depth problem with Mayer, Evans, Berrong, and Takacs and the other freshman Staes.
Prister said he thought that Harry Hiestand was the favorite for the OL . I have my reservations. Not that he can't coach. It's his approach to recruiting
If Heistand can’t recruit we don’t need him. I don’t remember how he did at recruiting. He was a hell of an O-line coach though.
Right now we have a good crop of O linemen between this year's first timers and a really good incoming class. Coaching for the next year or two is probably more important than recruiting.
Irish took down a tougher than expected Texas A&M - CC Back and forth game, Irish fell behind several times before putting them away in the 2nd half. Brey's short bench was really short we only played 6 men. Usual 7th is out with injury, Trey Wertz.
Ladies play DePaul one of the highest scoring teams in the country. They are at DePaul tonight Should be a good game.
You're probably right. I think Heistand would have done of better job than Quinn with the guys we already have.
Great women's basketball game tonight, high scoring 91-86. Breakout type of game for grad transfer Maya Dodson. Usual great game from freshman star PG Olivia Miles. DePaul played very well as well, they are exciting to watch on offense.
I didn't watch the entire game, but I watched enough to know that Olivia Miles is a truly outstanding player as a freshman. Nice win over a gritty DePaul team whose coach seems to have a permanent smile.
I have wondered what is C'Bo's status. He's been invisible this year. Suspened for 1st 4 games due to that car crash incident in the summer. But after that he played in 4 games and got 3 carries. I've expected an announcement that he was entering the Portal. If for no other reason than he's been passed on the depth chart by both Diggs and Estime. But no word. Now somebody asked Freeman about the situation. ON THE STATUS OF RUNNING BACK C’BO FLEMISTER “He will not be available.”
The Estime kid really interests me. When I saw him on the few Carrys he had it was like man, what a monster. We haven’t had a back with that kind of size and speed in a long time.
Tim, my son and I were together watching his debut like you. My son blurted out " we have another Bettis !"
Yeah that's what I am hearing as well. I have my reservations. But he and Tommy Rees must have a connection.
I'm guessing that if he is hired, it will be with an understanding and a clear plan agreeable to all for who does the initial recruiting for OL and at what point HH gets involved. With a workable plan, he doesn't have to leave the campus except for special situations aka highly desirable, very special recruits who show an interest. Personally, I'd like to see Coach Freeman or Coach Rees be the initial contact.
I know the guy has the pedigree and he coached the best O lineman I ever saw in college football in Quentin Nelson but I have reservations about any coach who doesn't like to recruit. That apparently is this guy's problem?
I like Alt where he is at LT. put Fisher at RT or Guard. If Heistand comes back we’ll see a improvement on all the OL guys I’m sure.
Alt made the Freshman AA team which is an incredible achievement for a kid buried on the depth chart and forced into action under fire. They need to find Fisher a new spot on the line.
I certainly hope that Sids assessment of the Harry H (potential)hire is correct. Fans were definitely on Jeff Quinns case from the moment he was hired, and that was fueled even more this fall by the poor start by the OL and the reports that the players were going to HH for coaching. Even Kelly was forced to say something about the Hiestand reports and also to defend his longtime friend Quinn. Next biggest hire will be who Freeman hires as the DCoord. He's clearly going outside the current staff. I hope he makes a good choice. WR coach is still up in the air though. Initially it was assumed that Del Alexander was out after the bowl game, but recently I've seen speculation that he may return, which will fire up ND fans and not in a good way.
