Just noticed that Doc Gooden has a son who is being highly recruited in football, Dylan Gooden. He's a DE from Good Counsel in Maryland. He has offers from ND, Penn State, Texas A&M, among others. He's class of 2023.

Irish baseball gets a complete game out of John Michael Bertrand on Thursday to take the opening game of the weekend series in Blacksburg with Va.Tech. Bertrand's brother J D plays linebacker for the Irish.

Irish baseball sweeps VaTech to finish out the season, they won the ACC regular season and are the #1 seed in the ACC tournament starting Tuesday.

In an upset Irish softball beat #1 seeded Kentucky in their regional and will be in the Regional final.

Women's lacrosse lost to BC in the NCAA quarterfinals.

Thank you, Terry. I never would have listened to his commencement address or even known anything about him. As a result of your posting the video, I have had a moving and positive experience.

I enjoyed the video too Terry. Nice to see the graduates so well behaved. Oh and by the way, Happy Birthday.

Irish Baseball hosts their Regional this coming weekend with Central Michigan, Michigan and UConn. I don't know a thing about any of those teams. Irish are the only one of the 4 ranked in the Baseball America Top 25.

It certainly was troubling that Irish got whacked by UVA and we were throwing our Top Pitcher. I'm sure that was the reason we didn't get a National Seed.

We open vs Central Michigan while Michigan and UConn play the other game. It's double elimination of course.

Football recruiting is back on and all over the country high school players will be making official paid visits to their favorite schools. Also the returning players will be back on campus for summer session and they will be doing weight training under the eyes of the training staff and doing the usual 7x7 stuff that everybody does these days. I assume that transfer/portal fever has finally died down across the country and at ND. Irish coaches are still reportedly interested in adding a grad transfer in the defensive backfield.

Irish pickup a Grad transfer OL in Cain Madden from Marshall. I imagine that he's expected to start.

The 6-foot-3, 313-pounder was named an AP second-team All-American in nine games last season.

PFF graded Madden out as one of the offensive linemen in the country in 2020 with a 92.5 overall grade. Madden's run blocking is his strength as PFF gave him a grade of 93.0, but his pass blocking wasn't bad as he didn't allow a sack or quarterback hit in 2020.

Also right now as I post the Irish baseball is up 10-0 over Central Mich.

John Michael Bertrand throws a 5 hit complete game shutout, and the Irish win 10-0. They play the winner of the UConn/Michigan game. As you know his brother is a LB for the Irish football team.

Mean while the Gators lose to 4 seed South Florida 5-3. Our best pitcher.

Think we are in big trouble.

Donavan Hinish whose brother Kurt is a 5th year DL for the Irish, gave his verbal this weekend. He's also a DL. No surprise they are a ND family.

Irish Baseball plays CMU tonight for the Regional title, CMU would have to win 2 games, ND just 1.

Irish win the Regional, go 3-0 and out scored the opponents 50 - 5.

I'm not sure who we will play in the Super Regional or even which one we will play,

Been a great season no matter what we do from here on out

I watched the game. 5 DPs in the final game alone. According to announcing crew, we're the best defensive team in college baseball. Niko Kavadas has become an instant legend. Early in the game CMU hit a solo HR to make it 1-0. In our half of the inning Niko was the first batter. He hit the 1st pitch out of the park to tie the game. At one point, the CMU pitcher walked him to load the bases. The next batter hit a grand slam HR. I just hope we haven't used up all the runs in our bats and have some left for the super regional.

As are all the Super Regionals...that will be a much tougher opponent than what we faced in the Regional.

This was a big recruiting weekend for the Irish. It was the Irish Invasion weekend, lots of HS prospects on campus for workouts.

Lots of new offers went out this weekend for 2023 and 2024 kids.

A teammate of my grandson was there. His grandfather played for ND. The kid is an outstanding athlete, but unless and until ND identifies him as a prospect, I won't mention his name.

I'm on a mission now Sid! What HS does your grandson play for? I see 3 kids from Indy so far in the list of players at the Invasion. 1 from Catherdral, 1 from Roncalli and 1 from Decatur Central I'm thinking it's the kid from Roncalli as he's an OL and since his Grandfather played for the Irish I just have a feeling that it is him.
