Good for him, it will be interesting to watch his career. I hope he does well, it's been a long time since ND had an alum as the head football coach maybe he could be that next guy. I think the last one was Terry Brennan, who was pretty young for the job. You see some guys, esp now, who just seem to rocket up the ladder and end up as HC in their early 30's. Maybe that can be Tommy.
Tidbit: Tommy Kraemer is the highest ranked OT (Rivals) to come to Notre Dame since Sam Young in 2006 who interestingly beat out Tim Tebow that year for Florida Gatorade Player of the year. Sam still in the NFL, JJ Watt ate him up when the Texans played Jacksonville late in the year!
I'm sure everybody knows by now that Monty Williams, former ND basketball player, wife Ingrid was tragically killed in an auto accident the other day. Here's a link to a good story about them. http://fabwags.com/ingrid-williams-nba-coach-monty-williams-wife/
Corey Robinson is the new President of the Student Body at Notre Dame. Impressive. I hope he has a great Sr. year on the field and leads the Student Body equally as well. This kid is going places. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14759270/notre-dame-fighting-irish-wr-corey-robinson-elected-student-body-president
Coach Kelly says he'll be a candidate for president in 2032. If I'm still alive, I'll be 88. If someone will wheel me to the polls, I'll vote for him. I don't care which party.
Based on this passage from a 2008 NYT article, you will be voting for the Democratic candidate in 2032, Sid. Moving from Massachusetts to Allendale to coach at Grand Valley must have been a huge culture shock for him as a typical Ottawa County resident, if looking at the political commentary on Skybox, would categorize us soft hearted Liberals and would want to deport Dave to Cuba
1. Dave to Cuba...they'd deport him right back! 2. Kelly liking how Obama finished strong...I wish Kelly would figure out how to finish strong!!
FWIW the Scholarship eligibility chart. http://www.ndinsider.com/nd-scholarship-chart/pdf_becf9c3c-d004-11e5-bc78-170cea372e01.html[/img]
Yeah it's not there any more... Another big win for the Irish, took down Louisville at home. I didn't get to see the 2nd half, but I watched the highlights and they just willed themselves to victory. Since the debacle at Miami, this team has made a huge step forward. Brey talked about going for a regular season championship in his press conference. Also Pat Connaughton, Jerian Grant, David Rivers, Chris Thomas were all at the game today. ND Hockey swept the Maine Black Bears this weekend. Hockey is getting it together at the right time. Women are at home for Miami tomorrow. Day 10 of the Demetrius Jackson watch ...no word.
Johnny Lattner died yesterday. 1953 Heisman Trophy winner. Tremendous college players, truly a great Notre Dame man.
Johnny Lattner was a great man. As a kid I was not a ND fan, but I loved Lattner. R.I.P. What's the DJ watch all about? Going to the NBA draft? If so, why would he say something at this point of the season. FWIW I wouldn't be surprised. I'm guessing he's be a high lottery pick.
I don't know Sid, he's been talked about like that almost as soon as he was recruited since he was a McDonald's AA and a 5 star recruit. This is the kind of thing that caused Roy Williams to go on a rant about TV constantly hyping players to go to the NBA. I don't think anybody will be surprised if he leaves early for the NBA, in fact if he doesn't then the Irish will have to adjust their squad as they will be over the limit with the guys coming in next year as freshmen. Last year with all those top freshmen at Duke and Kentucky that's all that was talked about, them going to the NBA. I really wish that kids could go to the NBA out of high school like they can in baseball, but if they opt for college they have to stay 3 years. BTW I 'm sure you saw that DJ was honored by Marian HS and Mishiwaka.. http://www.wndu.com/content/sports/Demetrius-Day-Jackson-moved-to-tears-as-hes-honored-by-Marian-368274481.html
I completely agree, Terry. IMO the one-and-dones have not been good for college basketball. What's wrong with letting a kid go into the draft out of high school, like baseball? There now is an established minor league system in the NBA. Separate the kids who aren't interested in college from those who are willing to spend 3, possibly 4, years developing their game and working toward a college degree.
