Nice win tonight for the women, I only caught the 4th quarter and they were down and it was looking grim but they finally stopped the Duke momentum and took the lead at about 5 or 6 minutes and never relinquished it. Some terrible free throw shooting kept Duke in the game though.

Terry, it's potentially a secondary violation at most. I doubt I would have even heard about it, if you hadn't put it on here. 8)

Well Ben Davis to Alabama, not a shock since his dad played there as well as the NFL.

We did get a LB in Johnathon Jones from Fla, not one of our top 3 targets but a needed body at his position. He had a long list of offers and reportedly was down to ND or Michigan.

McCulloch and Kelly are the long shots at getting a highly ranked LB today, McCulloch is almost certainly going to Texas, and Kelly reportedly has ND and OU very close but it'll still be an upset if he chooses the Irish...would make our day if he does though. He's really the only drama left, the rest is just collecting signatures.

Demetrius Robinson is not going to sign today and apparently he's going to wait on his SAT score from his most recent test and see if Stanford will admit him, if they do he's going there..if not who knows Georgia or ND?

Irish are done, no last minute decommits or flips, only Caleb Kelly and Demitrus Robinson are possible additions to the class. As I've said it'll be a big upset if Kelly chooses us over OU, nobody knows what Robinson will do.

We're down to #13 on the composite, and not likely to move up now unless we can add either Kelly or Robinson ..or both.

To me, an important distinction to make is that we have signed guys we targeted and aren't grabbing emergency bodies like we were during the DaveWilliWeis years. That doesn't mean they will all work out but we have seen a huge difference in recruiting.

When Kelly has taken a 'who the hell is that?' kid, he winds up being a stud for us. Under the 3 previous regimes, those kids were lost or transferred to lesser schools where they didn't pan out.

I'm happy with the class. Not everyone gets to be Alabama :p

BTW, according to the folks at the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game, Davis was always going to Alabama. ND made a huge impression. Even though the kid kept saying it was down to Georgia and Alabama, with ND a distant 3rd, it was really Alabama and the rest.

<t>If the WR from Georgia pulls the trigger for ND were in the top ten. We're right there now with less players than a few in front of us anyway. We kicked ass on the Oline again and on the offensive side. Came up a little short on the D. <br/>
    <br/>
Autry Denson is not only a really good RB coach but a damn good recruiter.</t>

It must be a weird situation having your Dad be a big star at a school that is recruiting you. In one sense, it would seem like the most natural thing in the world to go there. In another sense, I can see a teenager not wanting to go and try to break out of that shadow.

Yeah Autry Denson was a great hire.

Whether Robinson comes or not it'll be too late to affect our recruiting ranking, it's set in stone now. They don't go back and revise them if players don't qualify and never enroll or if as in Robinson's case they make a late decision after NSD.

The only ranking that counts is the one in early January.

True enough. In a way I guess the whole ranking thing can be pretty subjective as witnessed by the different rankings of teams by the recruiting services. I still would like to have the kid on board, rankings or no rankings.</r>

Dominating win last night for the Irish Women at home vs NCState.

No word on D.Robinson, he's been reported to be going to Georgia, then Alabama for visits, then he's reportedly canceled those visits and it's going to visit anybody this weekend. Bottom line is everybody thinks he's not doing anything till he gets his SAT and a final yeah or no from Stanford.

<t>well it appears as though education is a major factor in his decision and ND is in good shape especially if he is not be able to meet requirements set by Stanford.</t>

Intersting that ND now has more alumni in the Pro Football Hall of Fame than any other school. Eddie DeBartolo was the 13th inductee from ND.

That is interesting Sid, I was actually surprised that DeBartolo got elected. Not because he wasn't a significant owner during his time with the 49ner's, but all that involvement with crime and corruption down in Louisiana got him a 1year suspension from the NFL and he never returned.

He was a great owner when he was an owner though.

Also last night the Irish played a great game down in Greenville S.C. to beat Clemson. They came out hot and played solid through out the game, it was fun to watch. We had an answer for everything they did, played excellent defense and all 5 starters were in double figures. Zach Auguste after sitting most of the 1st half game out and just dominated. We're really getting good play as well from Freshmen Rex Pfleugger and Matt Ryan. Pfleugger is a terror on defense and starting to show a little offense, and Matt Ryan is a very good shooter.

After the Miami game I was feeling pretty down on the team, but after UNC and now Clemson, maybe these guys are rounding into a good team and if they can finish well we'll get the double bye in the ACC tournament. Win a game or two there and we'll be locks for the tournament.
