Baseball really struggling, lost 3 to Louisville over the weekend. What started as potentially a good season with us ranked in the top 25 to start the season, now we are mired in a funk and things not looking good.

Lost in the excitement of the Irish getting to the Sweet 16, Avery Davis our #1 target at QB gave Kelly his verbal this weekend. He's not a big kid, only 5'11" but Sanford and Kelly really love him.

He's the #4 rated Dual Threat QB.

Tim, you can't let the loss get you down. You need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and move on to spring practice and the spring game with renewed hope for the coming season. :D

Well Irish went 1-2 in the Sweet 16 yesterday. Hockey lost in OT to UM, and the Irish Women were beaten decidedly by Stanford.

The women played their worst game of the year, Stanford was deadly from 3 point land last night. Every time we got close they stopped us with a bomb from beyond the Arc. Brianna Turner was a no show in the first half and the Cardinal who was guarding her went off for 19 points in the first half alone. We did make a run at them and got it down to 3 points but then Stanford hit a 3 pointer from about 30 feet that was right as the shot clock expired and was more of a heave than a shot...but it went in. The one thing this team lacked that would have made a difference is depth at the post. Losing Taya Reimer really hurt, and for some reason that's one area that Muffet has struggled to recruit and I can't understand why. We have a lot of talent on the team and a lot more coming but no depth at post. Actually it's the same for the men, beyond Zach Auguste we don't really have another true big man.

Speaking of the Men, that was just an awesome finish to the game. I'm sure Wisconsin fans think the refs robbed them but IMHO those steals were excellent plays and not fouls. We have beaten UNC before so we can do it, but we have to figure out how to get Steve Vasturia going again, he's become an offensive no show for the last month and we need him to be the old Steve from last years Elite 8 run.

Baseball has won 2 at Va.Tech with the rubber game today at noon. Softball had won 18 in a row finally lost to Syracuse.

No new verbals in football! :( Demitrius Robinson still unsigned.

Baseball swept Va.Tech and on the road!! Maybe there is some hope!

Softball had their 18 game winning streak stopped, lost 2 of 3 to Syracuse.

Lacrosse : Men beat Ohio State and women lost to Syracuse. Men are ranked #2 and Women #6.

No verbals for football over the weekend. Some were upset that Tom Gatewoods grandson gave his verbal to Michigan. Good player, not a huge loss even though we did offer. Most of the news coming out of the Spring is the usual vanilla stuff, players getting better, more focused, bigger, stronger faster, etc. Devin Studstill a freshman is apparently competing with Max (the headcase) Redfield at Safety. Some think its just to get Redfields attention that he has competition. Oh and Nyles Morgan is really getting the whole defense finally, yeah that's the word! :)

Mike Brey, never been more popular than he is right now. Back to back Elite 8's, with the worst practice facilities in the ACC, his basketball budget is in the bottom half of the league and he doesn't get any breaks with regards to academics like football does. Brey is only 57 and I could easily see him coaching 10 more years. There were rumors that Stanford had him #1 on his list, but he seems totally comfortable with ND at this point and seems to really get what we are about. Whether he's got an extra gear that he's now hitting and we can expect a string of good seasons with deep NCAA runs and maybe a Final Four, I don't know. His teams typically are good offenses and mediocre defenses at best. Also for some reason he has no problem getting wings/guards, but struggles to get big men. UNC has a bevy of talented big men.
