No joy for the Irish Men, another loss, 4 in a row, all close losses but still a L. Irish just can't find an offense. 61-58

WOW....the ladies made up for the Syracuse loss by going to UCONN and just dominating them in a big upset win. Hannah Hildalgo was outstanding totally outplaying Paige Bueckers, and Maddy Westbeld had a great game. 82-67 HH had 34 points and Maddy had 23, Sonia Citron chipped in 15 points, Nat Marshall came off the bench for Kylie Watson and gave us 10 points.

Just a terrific win against a top 10 team.

New Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard’s one year in South Bend is off to a shaky start. The former Duke signal-caller suffered an ankle injury that required surgery earlier this month, according to Blue & Gold sources.

Leonard had the operation on the opposite ankle from the one he injured in the final minute of a 21-14 Duke loss to Notre Dame on Sept. 30. He underwent the successful procedure roughly two weeks ago.

It’s believed to have been a similar surgery to the one performed on former Alabama quarterback and current Miami Dolphins starter Tua Tagovailoa in 2018. Tagovailoa played for the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff four weeks later.

Following that timeline, the best-case scenario for Leonard is a return to football activities sometime in February. There is not a national championship in Notre Dame’s immediate future like there was for Tagovailoa and Alabama, though. A more realistic return to full activity for Leonard is the start of spring practices in mid- to late-March. There is a chance he will not be cleared by then either, though.

No big win hangover for the Irish women tonight, they are up on GA. Tech 46 - 17 at the half.

Ladies finished off the game as they started, a big win. Hannah Hildalgo had 35points.

On another front, Chad Bowden, who is the Director of Recruiting will continue with the Irish. He was apparently approached by Sherrone Moore the new Michigan coach to move to Ann Arbor. Everybody says he's been extremely valuable to the Irish recruiting effort since he's been at ND.

    From an article on FootballScoop.

During the AFCA Convention earlier this month in Nashville, at FootballScoop's annual meet-and-greet, peer personnel leaders from college football shared with FootballScoop that Bowden had emerged on the radar of some SEC programs in need of new personnel direction, with one source directly telling FootballScoop, "We have to pay attention now to who Notre Dame is recruiting. We didn't use to have to do that."

Well Chad Bowden is staying with ND even after a substantial offer from Michigan.

Also it looks like Al Golden isn’t going anywhere either. He definitely is not going to take a HC position at Boston College. I’m hearing ND is working on a 4 yr contract from ND.

Irish Hockey got a good road win at Michigan State last night. 4-1 over the Sparty's.

Irish men's basketball is on the road at Pitt. They are 4-6 in the ACC while we are 2-8. Team could really use a win.

Ladies also play Pitt, but at the Joyce Center on Sunday. We should get a win, but they played us tough down to the wire last time we played at their place.

Irish men picked up another loss at Pitt, 70-60. We might not get another win this season.

    Hockey lost to MSU tonight.

Irish ladies took care of PItt 78-53 at home. It was sort of a rough and tumble game, HH had an off game and still got 22 points. Things get real starting Thursday night going to Louisville which is the start of a very tough finishing schedule.

Everything I have read including that article Sid posted seems to say the coaches lost interest in him as other prospects came up and he started taking visits. I guess Freeman also has a no visit policy when you have given a verbal. In today's recruiting world I am not sure that is a good policy although I can see why coaches want to have one.

The Irish added no new players on today's Nat'l Signing Day.

But they might add a few guys in the next few weeks to the 2025 class.

Irish Men travel to Durham to play Duke tonight. It goes without saying, that I don't expect an upset. In fact I am not really expecting another win this season. Team just can't score.

As expected the Irish couldn't score but played pretty good defense. Just an awful offense, Markus Burton and sometimes Braden Shrewsberry are the offense. The rest of the guys just can't make a basket.

Tough loss at Louisville for the Irish women. HH was pretty much the only one whoyr could score, Sonia and Maddy were sort of no shows. We couldn't throw it into the ocean from the 3 point line either. As against Syracuse we couldn't prevent them from getting 2nd chance points, one of their bigs had the game of her career getting put backs.

This is a tough stretch for them, next up is a good FSU squad at home, they desperately need to win that one.

As always vs Louisville it's a rough physical game.

HH had 30 points and 7 steals..the rest of the team below their season averages.

I'm glad to be wrong, I said I didn't think the Irish Men would win another game this year. Well they got the better of Va.Tech today in the Joyce Center. Markus Burton had another outstanding game and he got some help from his friends. Hokies got out quick and hit a ton of 3's early then cooled off and the game was a back and forth affair till the Irish got on a run and built a late 10 pt lead and held on to get the win.

Tomorrow the Irish ladies take on a good FSU team on the road, after the game at Louisville they need a bounce back. They shot horribly from 3 and gave up way too many 1nd chance points. Need to shoot well from the 3 and Maddy Westbeld needs to stay out of foul trouble.
