Well the drama is over! Rocco Spindler, highly rated OL from Michigan chooses the Irish! Yeah baby! Happy Birthday Tim
Thanks Terry! Wow!!! Despite an extremely strong push from Michigan, Penn State, LSU and Ohio State, Clarkston (Mich.) high school four-star offensive guard Rocco Spindler committed to Notre Dame. This is a big win for the Fighting Irish, as he’s one of the top overall players in the class of 2021. The 6-5, 315-pounder credited head coach Brian Kelly and offensive line coach Jeff Quinn for being key in his recruitment, as he has had a great relationship with both coaches for a very long time. Beyond that, he connected well with offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and special teams coordinator / recruiting coordinator Brian Polian as well. Spindler is the No. 48 overall player in America, No. 3 offensive guard in the land and No. 3 recruit in Michigan from the class of 2021. 247Sports lists him as the No. 78 overall player in America, No. 5 offensive guard in the land and No. 4 recruit in Michigan from the class of 2021.
I've seen commitment videos before but this one is special: ISD Video | The Commitment: Rocco Spindler
Irish are supposed to open camp, but nothing has been said about it. I wonder if they will or will it be postponed in the current uncertain climate as to whether or not the season will go on as planned.
Brewing Joe? Joe Montana is the National Spokesperson! Nearly Two Centuries In The Making: Guinness, The Brewing Irish, Are Partnering With The Fighting Irish Of The University Of Notre Dame
Well first actual injury. NaNa had minor knee surgery. Will cost him at least a month. He wasn't expected to be a big contributor this year, but with all the unknowns you will likely need the full roster!
Well the Irish flipped a kid from Nebraska today. Will Schweizer a lb from Los Gatos CA. While he didn't say anything about the Big 10 not playing this fall, maybe it is going to be a problem for Big 10 teams
ND went to online courses for 2 weeks due spike in COVID-19 cases. Will the 2 weeks turn into more, nobody knows.
ND's problem was with its off campus seniors who apparently don't give a crap about avoiding the virus.
I think it's going to be a problem all over the nation. College certainly won't be any fun for the kids this year. If they follow all the protocols they are pretty much stuck in their dorm rooms except when they go to class or the dining hall.
John Olmstead, OL from NJ, has entered the transfer portal. He was an ESPN 300 player coming out of HS, didn't play last season as a true freshman. I can't figure out if he didn't see a future at ND other than a career backup, or didn't like ND, or was lonely for the NJ Shore, or what. But it does end up giving Colin Grunhard his scholarship back. He was a walk on son of a former Irish great Tim Grunhard, got a scholie last year but numbers crunch dictated that they didn't have on for him this year. Now they do.
