Yeah we don't have "our" refs and besides what you pointed out it would probably be impossible to have a ref team that traveled with ND team to away games they'd be crucified for any errors that they made.

You would think Big East refs would be the natural since we are a member of that conference but again there is animosity over our not being in the football and still getting some of their bowl slots.

Maybe it's time to join a conference. I used to have people tell me, Andy was one of them, that eventually scheduling would cause ND to have to join a conference. I never believed it, but apparently the AD is having trouble filling out our dance card and teams that we never would have considered such as Tulsa and UConn are now on the schedule. The large TV deals that the BCS conferences have these days means that their teams don't need a payday from a visit to ND stadium and they can just schedule their 3 at home patsies and maybe 1 home/home with somebody rather than be happy to be on the ND schedule. When our schedule was it's best (say 1988) a lot of teams that were good teams were also independent like the Irish. Now that we are alone and most of the conference teams don't need the extra cash that a ND game meant they are tougher to get on the schedule. Also 8 and 9 game conference schedules in the SEC, ACC and PAC10 are a hinderance. They want to play their tougher non-conf games in Sept and leave that 4th non-con for late Oct/early Nov with a patsie.

Oh for the days of yesteryear!!

USC in the last 7 years is

    82-9-1
    6-1 in major bowls
11-3 vs teams that finished in the top 10
1-1 vs teams that finished in the top 5.

Lou Holtz from 1988-1993 (six years)

    64-9-1
    5-1 in major bowls
14-4 vs teams that finished in the top 10
6-3 vs teams that finished in the top 5

    Now that's impressive.

Seems to be a number of Wash. tix for sale on the ND club email list. Might be weather related.

We are about an hour+ east of ND, and it's pretty ugly this morning. Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same......high 52, actually a great temp. for football, and 60% chance of rain.

UW returned some more of it's allotment Friday...assholes! They should have returned them earlier, almost like they held some back so that we'd be in a bind.

Rain shouldn't hurt the Huskies, if I remember correctly it rains almost everyday in Seattle....and it's cold this time of year there as well. Hopefully we have some good mudders!

Well 17-16 at half. Our defense was awful on the 1st and last series of the half and that led to 10 points, and Jimmy went brain dead and threw a terrible backwards pass that missed the ND guy and UW picked it up and ran it in. Between the 1st and last possessions the defense played well and forced several 3 and outs.

Our offense was able to move the ball for the most part but turned 3 redzone moves into FG's.

Right now I am worried since I think UW has stopped our running game and we are mostly moving through the air and in the last series they started to get to Jimmy. We need to take the opening kickoff and score, then play good defense.

Our 1 TD was a beautiful run by Golden Tate, the kid is really good in the open field. He's not a true blazer but he's fast, he's shifty and he's strong.

I keep wondering if a rotation of Crist wouldn't help. While Clausen is clearly the man, Crist brings a whole different look to the offense that I'm not sure they are prepared for. There are times in which Jimmy, if he were not hobbled, could just run forever.

Irish win 37-30 in OT. Incredible goal line stands by the defense, incredible game by Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate. D gave up a lot of plays but when it counted they held. I wonder if that UW reciever on the last play in OT knows where he is right now?

Credit to Jake Locker, that dude can play and that UW RB can play a little as well.

This team is very hard on my heart, but you gotta love.

    Terry

Thanks, Diane. I appreciate your thoughts. Wouldn't it be cool if your granddaughter got a scholarship to ND?
