Tim's right on Markese Stepp. Not exactly sure what it was about his grades, because obviously he is qualified by NCAA rules as he played at USC this fall. Don't know if his test score was too low or he didn't take a course that ND requires. He was committed to ND for awhile and was an active participant in recruiting for his class, then he was gone.
I think Corey is right about the USC game plan on offense playing right into our defensive game plan which was to bend but don't break. Of course I doubt Lea and Kelly envisioned them taking the opening kickoff and marching down the field for a TD. USC on defense was balls to the wall bring it all baby, and that plugged up our offense. Book even though his numbers were pretty good, really struggled all game to make plays he'd been making all year. A lot of it was of course that USC defense that everybody said was so beat up, and that was probably true but again many of those players were players that ND tried to recruit. I think it was another case of the underdog having to eat **** all week about their manhood as I read everywhere how they had quit and didn't even want to play this game, the stuff about their coach already being fired or that as soon as the game was over and ND had handed them a solid thrashing that he would be fired. They were primed to come together in the locker room and come out fired up to end the season by ruining their rivals undefeated season. Keyshawn Johnson was no doubt in their faces all week!
Well it wasn't pretty like the 'Cuse game but we'll take it. Got a room, got 2 tix and it's only a 4 hr. drive down the turnpike. The only possible change would be if we were assigned to the Cotton Bowl. I think that would happen if Ga. beat the Tide and Clemson moved up to no. 1.

Good article Sid, thanks. Retaining Kelly after 2016 turned out to clearly be the best thing. It certainly wasn't popular at the time and continued to be a point of conflict between ND fans. Settled down after the good start last year and then regained momentum after the debacle down in South Florida. Now if he has truly transformed things then we should be on a good roll for a few years. Annual top 10 contenders.
I read somewhere that Lynn Swann politely told the boosters to stick it and they are keeping Clay Helton.
Tim, now that Notre Dame seems to be pretty much a final four pick, what do you plan to do to kill time for the next six weeks??
Well Tim is an IU basketball fan so there is that for him to follow, they have a big game coming up with Duke. Mike as far as Brian Kelly and NDNation, it's always a tenuous relationship. Right now even his critics grudgingly give him credit for this season. But it's a thin layer of support only a loss away from back to hating him. Was a good weekend all around for the Irish. Mens basketball got a win vs DePaul and a lot of the young players did well. The women's basketball won the Vancouver Showcase beating a very good Oregon State team in the final. And Men's scoccer advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals with a last second, literally, win over Virginia 1-0. Hockey was off this weekend.
