    <r>Couple of younger players in the game I really liked:<br/>
    <br/>
    <B><s></s>Wimbush<e></e></B>. As I've mentioned before he IS the real deal. Dynamic, great arm, can give you rushing yards. He is Zaire with more accurate passing. <br/>
    <br/>
    <B><s></s>Dexter Williams<e></e></B>. Didn't get to see much of him but really liked what I saw. Looks like he's exposive, fast, great moves. <br/>
    <br/>
    Our TE is developing before ours eyes.<B><s></s> A. Jones<e></e></B> will be special.</r>

    Gentry...they all look good now that the schedule downgrade is complete...They must be so relieved they don't play Michigan..Mich State..Purdue etc.....but to drop down to the level of mass. temple..pitt...wake..you must admit the foolishness.

    Be careful, Joel. You're showing your ignorance of the current state of college football. Purdue is so weak, they couldn't even beat Brown, and Temple beat Penn State. Umass gave Temple all they could handle.

    We understand that criticizing ND's schedule is your ongoing mantra and your reason for being, but you can't escape the facts. Fact #1 is that ND's schedule consistently is ranked by unbiased observers as one of the toughest in the country.

    They didn't hang around. They caught us napping on 2 plays as described above by Corey. We slammed the door shut in the 2nd half.

    IMO, if this season is going to live up to our hopes, it's imperative that the leadership of team and the coaching staff learn from those 2 mistakes and not let anything similar happen again.

    As I've mentioned previously, I place a very high value on strong leadership. This article makes clear to me that it exists on this team:

    Joel, you don't get it. All these years, you've been like a fly buzzing around the room. Eventually, the buzzing becomes part of the background noise and isn't even noticed. I'm just trying to show you respect by letting you know I notice. I enjoy having you as part of the Notre Dame family. :wink:

    <t>You know what Joel or jif5 or whatever/whoever you are, I'll give you what you want. <br/>
    <br/>
    I'm ONLY on this board to talk to OTHER ND fans about ND football. For the most part I stay 99.9% away from ALL other topics. When I make comments here on an ND topic thread it's to other ND fans. <br/>
    <br/>
    Since it doesn't seem possible to stay away from smart ass comments from you and others I'll just let you have it all. I'm gone. Have fun.</t>

    Hey Tim just ignore Joel, he other than chest thumping when his team is doing something good and disappearing when they don't he hasn't made any contributions to the conversations on this board in years.

    Back to some actual conversation on the game.

    1. I'm actually glad that we had UMass on the schedule this year, the rest of the big name teams all have played more patsies than we have so far, most have not even yet played more than 1 Power 5 conference member while we have played 3. Plus our opponent next weekend had the week off to prepare for us, so I'm glad after a big emotional game with Ga. Tech we got to play a weak team and get some backups some time in the game.

    2. I do think that going forward there are going to be fewer games with non-FBS opponents all across the board. The SEC has mandated at least 1 Power 5 road game in non-conference every year, and a number of conferences have eliminated in the future FCS opponents .

    3. I really liked the way our young backs ran yesterday, both Williams and Adams looked like they have a chance to be really good college backs. C.J. Prosisse looks like besides Superman and Chubb he is one ot the top RB's in college football. I hope he keeps it up.

    4. OL looked good, even the backup OL looked good in the 2nd half.

    5. Kizer has a lot of work to do, he had a good game and I think he can get better throwing the ball. I like that he's tall and can see over the line, I don't care that he's not the runner that Zaire was or that Wimbush is ..but don't go to sleep on him or he'll bust off a good one on you.

    6. Chris Brown starting to live up to potential, he's had a very good Sept.. a few drops but also more than a few good plays. Alize Jones and Nic Wieshar both look good as do Lautua (who didn't play) and Hounshell .

    7. Cole Luke seems to be this years version of the infamous Highway 15 from years gone by. Clearly the opposition is targeting him. I'm not sure what to think of Max Redfield. Sure he has a cast on his thumb but he's not a WR, so why is he not a starter? He's got a lot of talent. He must not be a good practice player or something that pisses off Kelly/BVG.

    8. Man is Brandon Wimbush an athlete, he looked fast and has a strong arm. I look forward to seeing him develop into a starter sometime in the future.

    All in All a good game, lots of guys played, the coaches have something to work on and according to reports even Corey Robinson who didn't play due to "tweaking" his knee in the warmups was cleared with an MRI and should practice this week. Although with our depth at WR we'd have had a couple of young guys who could step in for him.

    How about CJ Sanders...why isn't that guy returning Kickoffs as well he's the first guy we've had back their who could return punts since Tommy Z .

    On To Clemson.

    Hey be careful. Alabama played ULM, beat them 34-0 (weren't very impressive doing it) and dropped 1 place in the polls. How about y'all? :?

    Yeah I saw that, I'm just surprised you have dropped out of the top 10. That loss to Ole Miss was by 6 (very lucky) points and you guys had your chances at the end. I think everybody is overrating Ole Miss right now, sure they are a very good team..but it's not like they went into Tuscaloosa and kicked your butts.

    re: DJ Morgan

    He's a 6'3" safety from St. John Bosco. That school is loaded every year. Last year their QB was UCLA's Josh Rosen. Both USC and UCLA load up with talent from that school...
