USC lost a starter at DT, he had an auto accident this week and suffered a concussion.

We need to run the ball on these guys, keep possession and the ball away from Sam Darnold!

Greer Martini is out for the game, per ESPN. That's not good.

That was a great catch and throw Scott. This first half could not have gone better, Darnold is still dangerous so the Irish can't go into a shell and try to just play safe on offense and go to the dreaded prevent defense.

I remember some real butt whippings when Carson Palmer was SC's QB. I really enjoyed this stomping today.

What a great win for the Irish. I got nervous when USC whipped down the field to open the 2nd half, but as Lou said you answer a score with a score and we did that! What a game by Josh Adams and Wimbush!

Brandon didn't have great stats throwing but he made some great throws.

Defense forcing turnovers and taking the ball away is something we haven't seen since Manti Te'o.

<t>Wimbush’s stats don’t give him justice. How many times on third down does he use his feet to get a 1st down. His ability to extend the play and keep the chains moving are what make him so valuable. I’ll take 9 for 19 passing and a 49-14 win anytime.</t>

A complete physical beatdown. That O-Line simply manhandled USC and our RBs and Wimbush punished anyone who attempted to tackle them. Our TEs are back to an active part of the offense. The defense is fast and they gang tackle. Coney made us forget that Martini was out and Tranquill is having an AA year at Rover. The young D-Linemen are really coming into their own. The D-Backs have convinced me they are above average as well. But the most notable thing is attitude and that comes from coaching. This new staff has made all the difference.

I wish Wimbush wqs a better passer but he's not and I'm not sure he ever will be. But he is a big, punishing fast runner so we will have to satisfy ourselves with that.

Speaking of QBs, my son told be that Kizer is the lowest rated QB in the NFL to date. I abandoned thatleague so I have not witnessed his play. I knew he was nowhere ready for that level and I think I remember characterizing him as potentially the next Mark Sanchez last year.

Wimbush continues to impress me as the 2017 version of Tony Rice. His QB stats are secondary to his leadership and all around performance.

P.S. If USC is the team most have portrayed it to be and not a pretender, then we don't need to worry about our passing game as long as our good old-fashioned power running game is controlling the line of scrimmage and our defense is swarming all over our opponents.

Irish crack the top 10 in the coaches poll. NCSTATE is 15th. USC dropped to 21. Schedule looks good, MSU keeps winning and that helps BC has been impressive the last 2 games also helps. Miami is #8 and if they keep winning that game in South Florida will be huge.

Of course we have to do our part and keep winning. It will be tough to win out, but if you want to play for it all that's what you have to do.

From here on out it is win or your out for a lot of teams.

I'm going to fall back on Sid's wisdom. Team chemistry and Sr. Leadership. When I listen to Mike McGlinchy talk I think there is a team leader. Then you look at guys like Drue Tranquil, and Nyles Morgan and you get the feeling that this team is united and that they have solid upper classmen leading them.

There were questions last year about Kizer's leadership, whether they were fair or not I don't know. But everything I read is that Brandon Wimbush is a very highly respected teammate and a great leader in the locker room. I have read that Josh Adams has emerged as a leader.

Leadership. It doesn't over come lack of talent, but on a talented team it makes it better.
