Thanks, Terry. I watch the hour-long interview last night, but those two segments were not included.

I was on campus last Friday just for the day and evening. While we were in the Morris Inn lobby around 2:00, we looked over at a sofa, and David Feherty was catching a nap while sitting up. He was sound asleep. He must have a very hectic schedule. Everyone in the lobby left him alone. Lou walked through the lobby and went out the back door. We watched him sit on a bench and light up his pipe. A server brought him a coke. Again, no one bothered him.

I've been here long enough, that I've just embraced the crazy. I just wish my neighbors would as well. The South is one big loony bin come football season and each fan base likes to pretend that they aren't as bad, or crazy as the other. I say embrace it, own it and run with it.

I watched a program between diaper changes yesterday called 'The Experts' with Mike 'Did you f*ck my wife' Bellotti, Matt Stinchcomb and 2 other idiots talking about how the NCAA should never have punished Penn State and they were glad the restrictions were lifted.

The 'experts' in that brief 5 minute segment displayed such a ghastly lack of knowledge about the NCAA rules, a total lack of understanding about the horror of that situation, and a complete lack of empathy toward the victims. You have Stephen A Smith's deeply offensive rant about domestic violence. These guys will continue to be proud employees of the 'brand' at ESPN..

Along that same line of acceptance, why continue to black ball this guy for making some sexist remarks? Let's just have one big open door of insanity. The market is already a circus, let's stop pretending that it's not.

    Corey, I'll say it again
Does this mean that the conversation about the rest of the sports world is honest and non-PC? If so then we have a few more things to discuss. 8)

And Corey, none of that has anything to do with "the southern sports world"

    Sorry Terry!

I'm glad Sid said that... with that in mind..
The televised coverage of the college football world is a circus. It's not honest. It hasn't been honest in more than a decade. It is very 'PC' though, of which, I'm not much of a fan..but to each their own.
Oh the hell it doesn't. The 'southern sports world' is now the leader, and has been for some time, pulling college athletics any which way they want. You are now hand in hand with ESPN. The same talking heads who will beat you over the skull with their criteria will flip it in a heart beat on you the second 'the reality' no longer fits their bill.

These 'experts' are making the 2nd week of September called shot of 'Alabama and Florida State will meet in the playoff title game.'

Now, I'm quite sure you know such things are BS as do I. However, the world of college sports has become a circus. I'm just no longer pretending that it's not. I've embraced the absurdity.

oh yeah, sorry Terry.. I was answering the responses asked of me. I didn't want anyone to think I was ducking anything.

I hope Irish by 5 TDs, I'll take Irish by a FG.. whatever gets us out healthy and with a W.

    Terry,
I too think that Notre Dame should win and probably easily.

    Corey,
I too think there is a lot of hypocrisy, posturing and filtering in sports reporting, but to restrict it to your original position that you wanted to see those things corrected in the "southern sports world" and then site the Penn State crime reporting and Stephen Smith's rants seems to indicate that this is not a problem with the reporting in the southern sports world but the sports world in general. 8)

Sid I can't remember a kicker at ND who was better. I know we've had some legendary kickers over the years, but Kyle combo of excellent punting and place kicking is just awesome. Craig Hentrich had a great run until he injured his knee in the big Tenn comeback and was never the same as a kicker but had a long career in the NFL as a punter.

Great memory, Terry. I had never seen the detailed description of what happened. Good stuff. Thanks.

Re: kickers. Harry Oliver was pretty good, but I don't recall anyone with as strong a leg as Brindza. I thought his description of how he has worked on hang time for punts is interesting. I hope he can be as good at that throughout the season as he's been for the first two games.

<t>It will take a monumental effort but the Irish may be able to pull out a win over the Boilers</t>

Aerial View of the Stadium for the 1946 Purdue game, I was born that year!! Irish won 49-6. Look at how different the campus looks, amazing how it's grown. Getting a good tailgating spot was no problem in those days. :)
