That time out is, to me, one of the most stupid calls I have seen...

I thought maybe we had too many men on the field or some such...but no, he was trying to "preserve time on the clock."

Sure, let ND regroup and think about what play to call...let 'em take a deep breath and gather themselves.

What?....if you're so damn sure they're going to score and you want to preserve clock just let them run it in...back off and give them the endzone.

And the worst part...THE WORST PART...is that after reflection he still thinks it was the right call....geez....doesn't seem to bode well for the future.

And I know so little about football compared to you guys that I can't begin to discuss most of these things....but I am pretty sure that you don't coach your defensive backs to cover the tight end (on 4th and goal) to start in the middle of the end zone, play WAY off the tight end, and then BACK UP like you're afraid he's going to fly by you...thus letting him walk up to the endzone and turn around for the football, stopping for a root beer on the way.

GET AGGRESSIVE....GET IN THEIR FACE...Try to win the damn game...I actually like Charlie's call on going for the 4th down...he was going for the win...hell, I was hoping he'd punt!

I am so sick of losing games should win by NOT MAKING A PLAY during the last drive...somebody, anybody...just make a play...make a tackle...I guess it's worse because a couple of those OSU losses to ranked teams everybody keeps rubbing in our face ended in the same way...a last second drive.

And you talk about STUPID penalties!!!...Yeah...make a good play to end a drive and STICK YOUR HELMET IN CLAUSEN'S FACE AND RUN YOUR STUPID MOUTH and get a taunting penalty.

I don't care about losing the damn game...I was fully expecting to lose...if we get beaten badly but play our best, fine...if we lose a close one playing good, smart football, fine...BUT I AM TIRED OF FINDING NEW WAYS TO LOSE GAMES WE SHOULD WIN!!! SICK OF IT!!!

    [/rant]

Really a good game by ND...you guys deserve to feel good about it.

Yeah well, don't get me started on the, uh, expert commentary of the ND boards...I'm just not in the mood right now.

And I didn't mean that as a slam on ND or it's fans or even it's boards...just the quality of most FB boards. Purdue and OSU included.

Sid's thoughtful opinions notwithstanding, I'm just not in the mood to hear how ND played badly against chumps and should have beaten us by 64 points, burned and looted our village, and tarred and feathered our mascot. (You ever see a locomotive up on a spit?)

No problem Stu, I think we all understand how it'd feel that way from your side.

They say venting is healthy (sigh)...I still say don't bust Charlie's chops for going for it on fourth...that's the attitude I want my coach to have.
