yeah well McDaniel's fumble was in their end of the field, specifically on the 28...we were going in for the score to ice it. They whipped down the field for the FG. Before that they took over at their own 27 and whipped down the field 73 yds, 9 plays, took less than 2 minutes. They gave up almost 280 yards rushing to a team that had no running game before Sat. Sure it's tough when your offense coughs up the ball, but this isn't the 2012 defense. That defense was able to erase the mistakes, just look at our win at USC, the offense tried to gag away the unbeaten season but the defense wouldn't let them. This defense lets them. It's awful, we will have virtually score every time we get the ball to overcome this defense. I don't blame the players or the coaches, BVG just has no experience to work with and the players are just way too young. But this defense is awful right now. These same guys might be really good next year, experience another Spring, return of Ishaq and Russell, etc. But this year right now they stink.
Our offense spent all of 2012 protecting that defense. Our offense spent all of 2014 throwing the defense under the bus. I suspected it was bad, but didn't realize it until I checked the NCAA's website just a minute ago. Our defense has lots of short comings but the problem is our GD offense.
Corey, You are going to have a hard time selling us on the virtues of a defense that gives up 42 points and 550 yards a game for the last month. You could march a band through the middle of those brothers. Pun intended.
If Corey thinks the 2012 offense protected the defense he needs to go back and rewatch the USC game. The offense gave USC turnovers in it's end of the field multiple times the defense forced FG's on the short field.
Corey oh yeah I forgot that one incident a couple of years ago. Hey did you hear that we also tore down the goal post...40 years ago Yeah, yeah it's a real trend with us 85%ers.
George, They are not without blame. I'm just saying they are the only part of this team in which their atrocities are understandable. There's not one defense in college football that could do any better when faced with the problems they've faced. Not one. They're giving up yards, but creating turnovers. Those aren't my numbers, those are the NCAAs. The problem is the offense. Terry, You're talking about the USC game when even Kelly talked about how, over the course of the entire season, they throttled back the offense for Golson and to put the defense in a chance. That was 2012, no? KP, That was 10 months ago. It happened after last year's Iron Bowl.
I've said it before, the vast majority of your fans are just the best. Your fan base has a small dark side... You mock me for bringing up the Bama fans tearing down the goal posts, when it was you who claimed they had never done it. That's fine. I get it.. But the past few years you have had fans making major, national, headline news for their behavior. You have last season ending with the Iron Bowl murder and the chick that went psycho at the bowl game against Oklahoma. The year you guys smoked ND, I can't recall any problems.. Then again, you won. The year before that, you had the dude who dropped his nuts/tea bagged the passed out LSU fan in a Krystals and got hit with sexual assault charges. I haven't even touched the Updkye tree killer thing (I think that was the year before that?) or that jackass construction worker at Texas A&M this past offseason. I mean, you can mock me and suggest that it doesn't exist, but I'm not making up these headlines. Look at it this way. What other school would make that list in the last 10 years? 20? Alabama has made it in something like 4 or 5 years and that's all I've bothered to notice. It's a shame. That tiny fraction of crazy ass idiots are nothing like the 95% of wonderful Alabama fans who are as good as it gets anywhere.
What fan base doesn't have it's dark side? People mostly say a trip to ND is one of their best road game experiences, ND people are really friendly etc. I'll bet there is somebody out there who found an asshole ND fan and got engaged with them and left saying, what a bunch of dicks.
"95% of wonderful Alabama fans who are as good as it gets anywhere" Frankly that has been my take on my experiences with Bama fans. Once when UF played in Birmingham and once in Atlanta...both UF wins. That crazy faction exists in all fan bases.... they just don't always make lasting headlines. I remember a few years ago on a Tenn-Fla weekend in Gainesville there were something like three deaths from fights that occurred between UF and UT fans over the course of the weekend. How insane is that?
Terry.. everyone has assholes. Please stop comparing drunk assholes to a murder, a guy who destroyed the rivals school's most beloved tradition, a guy who was convicted of sexual assault etc. They are not the same. Like I said, what other school makes that list twice in the last 10 years? Anyway, we're just sitting here debating the obviously true at this point in time. If no one here wants to believe that, it's fine.
So how would you describe Dodger fans? Haven't there been several incident s including a severe beating and a death after Dodger games in recent years?
Terry, Dodger fans are absolute ****. My father and the 50% not withstanding. They have the fashionable fans and the gang banger fans. They really do have a wonderful quality fan base that makes up about half of the crowd. The other half is just ****. I don't even quantify them as fans, really. They are there for reasons that have nothing to do with the Dodgers. They're looking to be seen, or start something. KP, You left off the guy who got tea bagged? That was after a win. I guess there's no point in tearing down goal posts when you're busy dropping your nuts on a passed out cajun in a Krystals. You've got me pegged all wrong. If you actually read the things I write, which obviously you're not, I had a wonderful time in Tuscaloosa. I've said that repeatedly. At no point have I ever gone to T'town to root for the Tide, but always had a great time. It should be mentioned, I've never seen Alabama win and the fans were down but still classy. I've said it before, you have this incredible fan base that really is great but you do have an awful minority which is just awful. Most of my friends here are Alabama fans and we don't have problems. I take way more trash talk from them than I dish out, but that has more to do with us not being that great and the Tide being the best in the nation. If my family came tomorrow, I'd not hesitate to bring them to Bryant-Denny. In fact, I'd insist on it. I know it would be a good time. LSU and Auburn though... not so much. They are both terrible. I just saw some open letter written by an Auburn fan about their experience in Georgia this past weekend. I've heard the Georgia fans like to spit on people and throw things. I'll have to check that out in the coming seasons. Athens is a beautiful town.
yeah Corey, you've got most of them covered over the last 40 years or so. And it is obvious that you really like Alabama fans. After all how can I argue with anyone who says,"Irrational? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean my opinion is any less valid. " ? 8)
"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way - in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
KP, I think the zero is stuck on your computer. I didn't cover the last 40 years. I covered the last 4. What this is about is your refusal to admit that this element exists and it is much larger than '1 or 2' people. It's cool. We can agree to disagree. I don't know what else to tell you, but I'm saying that 85% of your fan base is THE BEST FANS.. the best..It may well be more than that.. but that bad part is the worst in college football. That's the part you refuse to admit. You'll accept the validity of my sweeping condemnation of Auburn or LSU fans. It's just when it's your own, well documented, fan base screws up that you won't go with it. That's cool. I've stayed away from posting the video but I'm gonna do it. This is the tea bag video. In it, what I want you to note isn't the grown man dropping his nuts and face humping the 18 year old boy. No, what I want you to notice is that he wasn't the 1st person to whip their junk out and threaten to do it. Additionally, and this is most important, please do note all of Alabama fans who just laughed right along. They took pictures and videos. They shouted Roll Tide. What they didn't do is stop him. They're either 'bad fans' or cowards. You choose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZX6Y4EfVGI I like how you can take something written in one context and apply it to something else. You're reaching on this one. Anyway, we've been over this time and time again. If you want, I'll be halfway up at the 50 for the Decatur Clay Chalkville game this week. Clay Chalkville is breaking all the state scoring records and is allegedly the 'real' top ranked team in the state. Decatur's defense hasn't given up a TD in the playoffs and they may even have their QB back finally. Join in if you'd like. I have to warn you, there will be Alabama fans all around us though AJ, Funny guy.
Ok Corey, I've wasted too much time on this subject. What ever you say. I really don't care what you think of us, at least for now. Lol
hahaha Tom, 92% of the time you're right 100% of the time. Anyway, KP the offer always stands. Let me know if you need me to snatch you up on of those playoff tickets.
