Geez, I never so so many comments deleted by the poster. I was at the Gator Game yesterday and we left at 10 am and didn't get back until near midnight so I didn't see much in the way of other teams football. But this was a great win by the Irish and a tough loss by Michigan. Congratulations to Notre Dame and Bobda is ever the gracious fan. May he stick around a long time.
I think the turf is the key to tackling. Guys footing wasn't always the best. Plus helps with the speed. A while since you saw db's come up and hit right away on quick out passes.
kp, I can speak only for myself. The Michigan series never meant that much to me. I've never considered Michigan one of our big rivals. A TV graphic during the game showed that Michigan is something like 7th on the list of our opponents in terms of number of games played. The series was reborn in the 80s after several decades of not playing, primarily because Michigan blackballed us in the early 20th century and fought against our inclusion in the B10 at a time when it was a realistic possibility. I wasn't even alive when all this happened, but I've never forgotten or forgiven the history. In the past 30 years, at least a couple of former coaches have proposed dropping us from their schedule. I don't hate Michigan and I don't care whether or not we ever play again. I'm very content to move on. I believe the series is so hyped by the media that people have the illusion it means something. Not to me. The best thing for me that's come from Michigan is our friend Bobda, who truly graces this board with his presence.
When ND made the only move they could to keep their independence and have a league for their non-football teams in the ACC, severe scheduling problems arose. When we committed to play 5 ACC teams a year, that meant that every other year we'd have 3 away games in the ACC. Like most big time programs, you'd like to have 7 home games and 5 away. That meant that ND Could not retain all their traditional opponents on their schedule on a home and home basis. Navy and SC are long, long time opponents who we wished to retain on the schedule. Assuming that we have an away game with them every year, that meant that retaining other home and home opponents would mean we couldn't add any new teams to our schedule. We've just finished a pair of games with OK, we'll be playing TX soon and added OSU in the future. In order to do that we had to end our relationship with some of our long time opponents. We don't play MSU this year for the first time in a long time. I'm sure we'll be scheduling them again in the future but probably not on a yearly basis. Funny thing, you don't hear them crying like Chickagan.
Don The plan has been to finally move when Mary retires at the end of the year. We close on our current home this coming Fri. We will close on a home we bought in The Villages a week from Tues. After a 3 month search, Mary's replacement has probably been found and her training will begin shortly. We have to vacate our house on the 25th. We'll spend a couple of days in a neighbor's hose while they're out of state. Then we'll fly to Fla. to be there when the furniture we're moving arrives. We'll fly home just in time to fly out to San Diego where Mary has a 5 day meeting. Then we'll return home and hopefully move into a rental property that we own. We'll then get that ready for sale. Not much going on so I have plenty of time to work on my college picks.
Wow, I didn't see this coming. I took ND based on my thoughts that Golson was the better QB of the two in the "shootout". Guess it was more of a shooting.
Yeah, despite 8 opportunities a year not one Big Ten team has been able to shut out M since 1984. But come to think of it, they're just BT teams...nothing special.[/quote] LOL!! It doesn't matter anyway Gipper! Irish will be in the B1G in less than 5 years anyway. I'm thinking the 16th team should be one of the other states.....North Dakota or Appalachian....
The B1G W is right where it needs to be....this looks like the old Big 8/12 North standings... Big Ten - West Nebraska 2-0 Illinois 2-0 (UM) Iowa 2-0 (OkSU) Minnesota 2-0 (CU) Purdue 1-1 (ISU) Wisconsin 1-0 (KSU) Northwestern 0-2 (KU) JUST KEEP CHOPPIN' AWAY BOYZ!
FWIW I agreed with the penalty and thought it was a stupid and uncalled for move by Redfield. I''m sure he got an earful in the locker room and hopefully won't do it again. His hot dog move wiped out a great exclamation point to the win and robbed his teammate of a pick 6.
To save everyone some time, I browsed through NDNation and Mgoblog this morning and can offer the SB fans of other teams the following visual representations of the present mood of both fan bases. The Domers fall into two general categories. 1. A sort of blood lust/atavistic total obliteration/ revenge ectasy mindset 2. Or, they just want to dance in total joy Michigan fans are either in a really, really deep depth of dispair Or totally numbed by yesterday’s blitzkrieg Or in total burn it all down anger at the football program, Hoke, the administration, Brandon, and humanity in general Guess I now have to spend some time this afternoon logging onto the American Spoon website
And has there been any rescheduling in the future to play each other. Or is it like the Canes & Gators where only by some odd coincidence that you will play again.....
Bob has got to be one of the best guys around. Even tho you won't say it, I know what you're thinking about all this... http://reactiongifs.me/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/get-that-****-out-of-my-face-vga-2012-commercial-samuel-l-jackson-baby-gif.gif
You know, Bobda, things could be worse. Most of us on here were unaware that McNeese State even had a football team until they almost won a game yesterday 8)
