Sid, For me it's long gone. The calls I may disagree with are all normal calls that people will complain about over the course of a game/season. There's no way to prove malice or intent so there's no point in debating those things. It all comes off as cheap whining, even if you're right. However, the NCAA and all of its members schools have supposedly been on a decade plus long tirade to clean up the 'thuggish' aspect of the game...eliminate the fighting.. the standing over a player with a crotch in his face.. the taunting, the throat slash etc.. Right up there with any of those types of plays is the act of shoving a player back down who is half-way up and handing the ball to the official. It wasn't even like it was in the heat of the moment. Floyd was halfway back to his feet and the officially actually had the ball in his hands as the DB came back to shove him to the ground. That's how fights get started. Those are the plays that, at later times in later games, lead to DBs or LBs getting ear holed or having their knees cut in a dangerous manner. When the latter takes place, people will scream about the 'unprovoked and unnecessary attack' but the reality is that it was all started by an official not doing his job. That non-call is absolutely inexcusable IMHO. I was actually proud that Floyd complained to the official for a moment (who turned the other cheek and ran away) before moving on to go back to the huddle. Had that M DB done that against USC, there would have been a fight right there on the sideline on that play or the next.. because there would have been a retaliation.
Bobda, LOL re Zepruder film. Speaking of that.. there is this that's caused a bit of a stir on NDN. It's not the same situation I was venting to Sid about..
