Yeah it's hard to imagine winning unless we can start to run the ball at lot better. Eventually UGA will just ignore the run and bring the house on every play to cause havoc for Book.

The D is wearing out. The offense has to move the ball and get some first downs.

no run game and UGA just camping on the short routes. Irish have to figure something out.

Georgia tightening up on short passes. No speed to stretch field. No rushing attack. Looks bleak.

So in the end, the O line that couldn't run block couldn't give Book time to try to win the game.

Well our defense played it's heart out, and I agree with Gip the offense just was too limited and predictable. Credit to the UGA defense for sure, but their job was made easier by and offense that wouldn't or couldn't throw the ball more than a few yards past the LOS. I guess they (Kelly/Long) our WR could make Yards after the catch but the UGA safeties were just tracking them not having to worry much about us throwing the ball more than 10yds.

It's pretty amazing though with such offensive ineptitude UGA only was able to beat us by 6 points at home.

    Congrats to Georgia.

Why did it take us so long to go vertical? I really detest our offensive coaches. Great recruiters, in game strategy, not so much.

Thought your defense was sensational tonight. Don't think Georgia will see a better defense the remainder of their season.

What crippled your rushing game? Injuries?

Turnovers! They will kill you every time and Notre Dame's inability or reluctance to run the ball. Notre Game's tight ends were able to get open at will and that nearly killed Georgia. Georgia's kicker is automatic and I'm surprised Book didn't run the ball more. The Notre Dame folks need to stop reading or.listening to the "experts". That game last night is what a game between two top ten teams is supposed to look like.

The game in Athens last night had the look and feel of a playoff game..... credit that to both team's abilities and the frenzied fans.

Don we haven't had a running game to speak of all season. I thought our OL would be a strength this season but so far they've been just average. I thought our RB's group would be good, not great, but we lost our #1 back, and the #2 guy at least with this OL/offense hasn't been able to do much and the young backs haven't shown anything either.

Our offense can't or won't try to push the ball down field everything is pretty much within 10 yds for the LOS. The defense can just camp on our short routes. I really thought our offense would be good this year and it was our defense which lost some key players that might struggle early in the season. But that defense last night played well enough to win, it was our offense that let us down. Of course kudo's to the UGA defense those guys are really good.

Terry is spot on. It's also difficult to have any consistent running game when your OL jumps the snap about 10 times during the game. That's unacceptable and doesn't reflect well on the OL coach.

I will say this, Georgia is really good on both sides of the ball, but I think they will lose to either Fla since Trask looks so good or to Auburn.

Reports are coming in from the game and everybody says Georgia fans were great to our fans.

After all were not Florida fans.

Well now we know. Our running game is way behind where we were a year ago. The O-Line does not get much push and they are not mentally in sync. They are better at pass blocking but once a good team figures out we can't run the ball they can load up on obvious passing downs. And last night the Irish never attempted to establish the running game. For some reason we rarely attempt to stretch the field.

The defense was a pleasant surprise; it was their best game of the year by far. Last night they showed elite potential. Great tackling in open space. The freshman punter has been excellent so far.

The long knives are out for Chip Long. Kelly's inability to beat a Top Five team continues. I would say that this ND team is a solid #8-15 ranked team, no more. At least not at this point.

    My grades:
    QB - C
    RB- D
    TE- A
    WR- B-
    OL- D
    K - A
    DL- B
    LB- C
    CB- B
    S - B
    P- A
    Coaching - C-

Don't know what to say. Georgia was beatable even on their home field. Too many mistakes many of which you can attribute to the home crowd. Gotta move on. Kelly says no injuries and we get Young and Smith back. Armstrong will still be a couple more weeks.

George I think you're a little harsh with some of your grades. For instance, I think that the LBs did a good job shutting down a top rate rusher in Swift. I think for the game he was less than 100 yds. Likewise, I think that with D RBs and a D OL that Book did a good job putting some points on the board.

Irish fall to #10. Which seems fair.

Now don't let Georgia beat twice, need to take care of business v Virginia.
