I've never met a Georgia fan or alum who had anything but contempt for ND. I'm not saying they don't exist, I'm just saying I haven't met one. I guess my wife would be one, but she never followed sports at all until we started dating so.. I'm not sure she qualifies. Which leads me to.... f*ck these guys Week 2. We need to slow the run down. We need to have their QB try to carry the offense. Most important, we need to run the ball right down their throats. I think Wimbush will need to be a dual threat again in this game. 100 on the ground and in the air would be nice. If we can make Georgia spy Wimbush, it greatly limits what they can do defending the pass and the running game to our left side. They don't like us. They don't have much respect for us, and truthfully, I don't care. I just want to send them packing with a loss.
I like the way Wimbush runs but lord, he's got to learn to go out of bounds or slide. For once that clown Flute was right, he get hits too much.
So I'm watching local news last night and just before I retire, they announce that beginning at 5am they'll be doing 24 hr. coverage of Irma. Then it dawns on me, my local NBC affiliate is going to be covering Irma all day and night :!:
Mike, This link states that the NBC Sports app will stream the game. https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2017/9/9/16255540/notre-dame-georgia-2017-time-tv-channel
Thanks Bob. What worries me is that the app. shows the game at 7:30 but it also has WESH2 noted. That's our local station and I hope that they're not going to stream what's on that station.
I would hope they use the national feed rather than the local feed to broadcast but one possible back up option is a pay service that advertises a 7 day free trial. https://www.fubo.tv/watch/Notre-Dame-Fighting-irish?irad=366904&irmp=374356 As a last resort, sometimes people might live stream the game on Twitter or on an app called Periscope. For the Mayweather-McGregor fight, those who were following #MayweathermcGregor on twitter were able to watch the fight for free by clicking on the twetts of users who were livestreaming the fight.
I didn't allow NBC sports to access my location and I'm hoping I get the national not the local telecast. If not, I'll go for the free trial. Thanks.
I don't post much for my reasons but ND alumni that gets tickets and sell them as apparently what happened here should be ashamed. All red and noise from tv is all Georgia based. With modern day technology, if seat awarded to alumni and video or internet search shows seat was sold, they need to revoke them from buying in future.
We have a lot of foreign born faculty that dont care about football. We have season ticket holders who live in South Bend and use there tickets as money makers. And then there are the season ticket ND fans who have been ripped by ticket prices to the point where they have to sell some to keep from taking a bath. Those are the biggest sources of tickets.
Tough loss for the Irish. The played well on defense, but they never could get anything going on offense, that Georgia defense was just outstanding tonight. That was an old fashioned defensive battle. Dawgs made the last big defensive play and won it. I have to say, even given that Wimbush was under a lot of pressure that no doubt affected everything he tried to do, he wasn't really very accurate throwing the ball when he did have some time. As far as the Sea of Red. IMHO opinion is a reflection on several factors. 1. UGA fans wanted to make this trip and money for tickets was not hinderance. 2. Many ND fans have been angry about a lot of things about the program and back in August when the tickets came out a lot of people thought we would get hammered by UGA due to their unstoppable RB duo and I think that made them more likely to make those tickets available 3. It is now legal to scalp those tickets, years ago a ticket holder who was caught scalping his tickets could lose his right to buy tickets. But now even the Irish have a "preferred" secondary market provider in Vivid Seats and they allow Irish ticket holders to scalp them for the market price with no consequences. 4. And given that the avg price was around $1,000 per ticket and that a lot of fans are angry at so many things, Kelly, Swarbrick, the Crossroads, etc it's not surprising that many chose to take the money. Over the summer many posters on NDNation were proudly touting that they weren't going to any games, not going to even watch them on TV. Guys who were going almost had to apolgize and say they already had hotels and airline tickets so they couldn't not go and that it was a family event. But many said if they went it would just be for the tailgating with friends. All those things, willing buyers, angry fans who are looking for ways to show their displeasure with the program, Kelly, Swarbrick, Crossroads came together in this game. I've seen a lot of posters wish that our sellout streak would end as another botch on Swarbricks record. Season isn't over of course, our defense looks legit and we have some games coming up where the teams won't have the depth and talent on defense that UGA has so maybe the offense can get back on track. Maybe we can get Wimbush comfortable throwing the ball, even against Temple to me he didn't look comfortable and he didn't look accurate.
Clearly the team with more top athletes won last night. That being said it's hard to find a more overrated group of individuals than the US Congress but the ND O Line might give them a run. They are supposed to do 3 things: open holes for the running backs, protect the QB, and avoid stupid penalties that hurt the team. 0 for 3. I agree with Terry about Wimbush's accuracy problems. Despite a new special teams coach our KO coverage was shaky at times.
I'm with Gipper. The O-Line was dominated last night but no one more than McGlinchey. He is almost helpless against the speed rush. I just don't get the hype around him. Wimbush has a long way to go. Plays are breaking down fast. And he is getting hit hard and often. I could not detect a discernable offensive game plan. Defensive front seven played hard. They are much more mobile than what we are used to. Tillery still makes boneheaded plays and penalties at key moments. D- Backs look improved but we have yet to face a top shelf QB yet.
  - The Irish have a real defense now. This will work. The preseason mags claimed that Georgia had the best OL in the nation, as well as the best set of running backs. If they do, then Notre Dame's defense is back, because they contained nearly everything the Dogs tried to do most of the day. The key to the new scheme is the rover-back position in the person of Drew Tranquil. For years they said he was a great player who's contributions were limited, because he was too slow as a safety, but too small as a linebacker. As a rover, he can slide back and forth as needed, while blitzing QBs from unexpected directions. I like this defense. - Wimbush was not up to the job. Doug Flutie did a great job of politely analyzing his inadequacies during the game. We're going to have a difficult time beating the top defenses without a big-time QB... - McGlinchey is a pro prospect as a RT. He's not a true LT; he's just the best we have and he proved that's not really good enough on the final pass attempt. He almost got Wimbush killed. - The kids on the other side of the OL look confused. True freshman Hainsey makes mistake after mistake... - Overall the team did well and is dramatically improved from last year, especially on defense. Maybe we just have to be patient and allow some of these young players time to adjust. That was a good team that we played yesterday...
Our offensive game plan was garbage. Our RPO isn't a real RPO and Georgia showed that over and over last night. I knew if we tried to run around them on the perimeter, we were in for a long night. We ran to their strength all night long. You beat Georgia by running at them and doing play action over the top. Jeeeez.
