Impressive game by the Irish, even considering that Ga Tech isn't really a very good team.

Buchner other than that impressive run didn't look great, but to be fair he was playing behind the 2nd string OL.

As Krebs noted Audric Estime showed me something. Tyree, Diggs and Estime should be a good trio next year at RB.

Georgia Tech had averaged 30.6 points per game in its previous 7 games and had scored at least 17 points in each game. It had also not been shut out since 2019.

Ok tell me what you thought during the scoop and score when it looked like #57 blocked a Yellow Jacket in the back?

Watching the replay it seemed as though they might have gotten their feet tangled rather than the ND player hitting him in the back. I had the same first impression you did but there didn't seem to be any block on the view looking back from the end zone.

The kid has really good speed. Can we pick up a couple of his O linemen, they're doing a great job in the highlights.

Whew I was worried about this! Seriously Kelly was never going to take the USC or LSU jobs, I could see him taking a NFL job if one were in the offing, but not another college job.

BTW I don't think there is a snowballs chance there is a NFL job out there for him.

Irish Hockey beats UM again tonight at Yost, sweeping the weekend series. 5-4 in OT.

Notre Dame has now won six games in a row on the season to improve to 10-3-0 overall. The Irish have also won seven straight at Yost Ice Arena – including four straight with Bischel in net.

Jeff Jackson is basically Jim Tressel on skates. His teams play a disciplined, tight checking game and do not beat themselves by being out of position or making dumb mistakes. M coughed up 2 goal leads in both games. M is uber talented but young and ND capitalized on our poor play in the defensive end.

Is Kyree Williams definitely leaving after this season?

    :D

I remember sitting next to Stu at the Ohio State/Texas game in 2005 and after a conservative series, Stu commented...Classic Tressel Ball. I forget if it ended with a FG or a safe punt.

He'll shock the world if he comes back, even though he's not likely to be higher than a 3rd round draft pick. Terrific college RB. Doubtful that he would ever be a 1st rounder even if he'd run for over a thousand yards this year. He's not Derrick Henry or Najee Harris.

He could be a Theo Riddick who had a pro career. He's a good receiver, talented runner AND he's an accomplished blocker. So many RBs are prima donnas who only give a half-hearted effort in picking up blitzes.

I would agree. He's most often compared to Riddick as a college player as well.

I don't know why the likes of Herbstreit, D. Howard and such keep thinking Kelly would go to USC. Shows how much they really don't know about ND or Kelly. He will retire after ND, not go somewhere else.

Rumors of a coach leaving are usually started by people who want to interfere with recruiting. Kelly seems comfortable at ND and he's at an age that starting over at a new level, assembling a new staff, etc. is just too much of a hassle.

Well, we seem well stocked at RB. This Estime kid makes you yearn for two back formation. He is a banger. And Diggs is going to be a real good one.

The only thing that might entice Kelly is a big payday. Other than that he has reached an exalted status in South Bend. He has hit some milestones that set him apart. When he quit calling plays he became a great coach.

Meanwhile, what a difference between that porous defense that started the year vs FSU and what we're seeing now. The opponent hasn't crossed our goal line in over 12 quarters. We're 12th in the country in scoring D. After giving up 67 pts. in the first 2 games we're averaging giving up 18 1/2 pts. per game. In today's high scoring college football, that's pretty good.

Irish picked up a punter who had been committed to Wake Forrest, Bryce McFerson. He's from North Carolina and is the 247.com #5 rated punter.
    ______-______

Chris Sailer, widely-respected kicking guru and specialist with kickers and punters, ranks McFerson as the No. 1 player at his position this cycle. In talking with him, it's clear that this is a big win for Notre Dame.

“Bryce has pretty much been locked into my No. 1 spot for four years. He started there and he's pretty much held ground the entire time and rightfully so,” said Sailer, who runs the website, ChrisSailerKicking.com, in an interview with Irish Illustrated just prior to McFerson's commitment to Notre Dame. “He may not have your prototypical NFL body right now, but he's 6-1, very athletic and one of the most consistent performers I've ever had. He's always on, and when talking about a high school kid, that's hard to do. When I say that, I mean that every punt is 40 yards-plus and 4.3 or 4.4, but when he's absolutely on, he's at 45-50 yards at 5.0. Everything he does is spot on.
