No, they left at halftime. The boys really were into the game, but Brian said it was much too cold to have them out the for the second half. One of them wanted to stay, but the other said it was time to go. All in all, Brian was very pleased with how the day went. As they walked to the car, they asked if next time they could stay for the whole game. That's a pretty cool request from 7 yr. olds, considering the frigid weather.

Maycock pointed out that Tommy Rees has been one of the best protected QB's in the country. He's the total opposite of Johnn Manziel and you'd think he'd be hard to protect. But he makes all the line calls, one of the things that slows down getting the play off, and he doesn't get enough credit for that. He doesn't always make the plays with his arm, but the fact that he's been sacked so few times is amazing. Esp considering that we've been in 5 wide so much and we really haven't had much of a running game till last night.

Irish open as 14 point underdogs vs Stanford...I expect that to grow!

FWIW Notre Dame has reclaimed the #1 slot in the all-time winning %, Michigan is #2 of course.

I'd like to give the OL a little credit. Not to break up the Tommy love fest, but those guys have to actually do the blocking.

Interesting thing is that ir much easier to pass block for immobile QBs like Rees than scrambler like Golson.

Well this was a pretty good recruiting weekend, we had a lot of prospects, well not like a hundred or anything, but quite a few for this time of the year.

Most of the reports I read were very positive and in fact it's being reported that Blake Barnett from Corona CA has committed to the Irish. He was one of their top QB targets for 2015 and he should be nationally ranked when they get around to ranking the 2015 class.

Bad News....Nick Martin gone for the rest of the year. Hegarty did a good job filling in for him, so next man up!!

Other bad news, Fla LB Richard Yeargin III is looking to decomit from ND, visited Clemson this past weekend. That's the way recruiting works these days, we pick up Drue Tranquill from Purdue and lose (most likely) Richard Yeargin III to Clemson. Truthfully he reported only chose ND because his first choice, the Gators, wouldn't accept his commitment.

There is a kid who is committed to Missouri who is looking seriously at the Irish as well as some other kids.

    re: Blake Barnett

I saw Blake Barnett play on television Friday night. It was the quarterfinals of the CIF Playoffs and his team, Santiago HS from Corona, got bounced out of the playoffs by Upland HS 30-29. Upland had beaten them earlier in the season 43-42.

Blake Barnett is the real deal. He's a tall (6'4") kid who can run like a deer and he has the arm to throw deep too. He really keeps the defense loose just wondering what he will do next, because he stretches the defense both vertically and horizontally. This kid gets the Big JO'Co Imprimatur for Excellence. I've seen him play and he was easily the best player on either team......and those were two very good teams. I know UCLA wanted Barnett very badly as their eventual replacement for Brett Hundley.

Very happy to have this one with the Irish!

Just pray that his grandmother doesn't get sick and because of unknown compensation, he'll want to stay in the area.

    Blake Barnett

Some QB guru I never heard of before says he's the best QB in the country...that's all well and good, I just hope he lives up to the hype and becomes a great ND QB.

Just get to a bowl and win it. In the big picture, that's all that matters if you aren't playing for the whole thing.
