<t>I don't know about all the expectations for Golson when he returns. All I know is that Kelly's offense works a whole lot better when you have a mobile QB that can make things happen with his legs and extend plays. Much more dynamic. <br/>
    <br/>
I also will say for the record that Tommy Rees has his limitations but things would have been a hell of a lot worse without him over the past 4 years. I expect to see him to see him on somebody's coaching staff doing well in a very short period of time. Outstanding young man.</t>

That's also what I'm thinking, Tim.

From an interview on Irish Eyes with a writer who covers BYU:

    2. Notre Dame has faced its fair share of dual-threat quarterbacks this season and had a mixed bag of results. Tell us about Taysom Hill the passer, first, and can he beat the Irish back seven with his arm if Notre Dame handles the Cougars rushing attack on first down?

Gurney: Taysom Hill has improved dramatically in his ability to throw the football after a very rough start to the season. Through three games he wasn't able to hit the broad side of the barn -- consistently overthrowing receivers while showing little, to no, touch on the football. He still struggles with consistency and that was never more apparent than last week when he threw three interceptions in just one half of play against a terrible Idaho State football team.

Wisconsin severely limited Hill's dual-threat ability by stacking the box and playing zero coverage. Hill had his moments against the Badgers, but never proved able to beat them consistently with his arm which ultimately led to just 17 points scored. I don't know if Notre Dame's defense is quite as good as Wisconsin's, but the model is set and I expect the Irish to crowd the box until Hill can prove able to beat a top defense with his arm -- something he hasn't done on a consistent basis.

That analysis provides some hope for us, but I'm not counting my chickens. Our defense, especially the secondary, is (to me) a terrible disappointment this season.

Good article on T.J. Jones from Her Loyal Sons. I agree with the author ..Thank You T.J.

    T.J. Jones

Senior Day is always bitter sweet, we all have players that we've grown to love for their loyalty to ND, for their hard work, for their contributions to the program. They don't have to be big stars like Manti was, but guys who though flawed put it all on the line.

Guys like, Carlo, Foxy, TJ, Zach, who won't be back and like the famous words of Billy Ray Cyrus from the Song "Some Gave ALL"...these guys gave all.

While we say good bye to these Sr's ...we'll be saying hello to some new guys. One of them Tori Hunter Jr, had a bad leg injury in an All-Star game last year and couldn't play this year. He's fully recovered now and from this video posted by his Dad is ready to get started on next year.

    Tori Hunter Video

Think about the talent that is coming back next year.

Daniels, Fuller, Robinson, Chris Brown, Onwualu, Hunter, Nikklas, Koyack. Then add in Durham Smythe and Heurman at TE and some excellent freshman who probably will all redshirt due to the talent ahead of them. Maybe Carlisle will move to Slot full time, CJ Proisse is sort of a forgotten man but has talent and speed.

Golson will have a ton of targets next year.

That is a beautiful tribute to AJ. I got a lump in my throat while reading it.

Brian Hamilton is mentioned in the dining hall episode. He and his family (wife also an ND grad) are close friends of my Brian and his family. His two girls play soccer with Brian's three girls, and his son, Donovan plays with Brian's twin sons during those games. The girls have had numerous sleepovers together. At some point when time permits an extended conversation, I'm going to ask him about his recollection of AJ.

    Thanks, Terry.

Yeah that had to be a little odd for the ND people to be sitting down and talking ND and ND History with a biker.

Bad, bad, bad weather for the game on Saturday.

My son and a friend are taking three 7 yr. old boys to the game. They expect to be gone by the 3rd quarter.

Grady and Brendan will be at the game. I believe it is Brendan's first at ND. I'm not sure if Grady has been. It should be good fun.

Brendan is a ballplayer and he has all that Under Armor stuff, so he should be warm. He's sat in the freezing rain at the Coliseum watching the Irish beat USC, so a little snow won't bother him. He's a gamer for sure. It's Grady that we're worried about...

Been following Dianes posts about Brendan on Facebook, clearly had a good Sr. year at Damien as a QB. Where is his college destination? Is is going to try and play football? I looked him up in the Rivals Database and he's not there so I assume that he's not got any offers from a Div1 school. But that still leaves a lot of small colleges that play football.

Oh and I have to mention Navy QB Keenan Reyonlds who had a great game vs the Irish and really was denied a win by the foolish decisions of his coaches in the final minute of the game, he set a NCAA record for rushing TD's last night in a 3 OT win vs San Jose State. He scored 7 times, rushed for 246yds. The kid was nearly unstoppable vs the Irish. He's only a soph so we'll see him again.

    Go Navy Beat Army.
