    If things hold here.. Game ball to Theo. Wood has equal numbers right now, but Theo had the big runs that turned the tide of the game.

    Also, it's amazing how much better our defense is when they aren't on the field all the time.

    ok with the win in the bag.

    Why is Fox on the field? He gets run over against the run. He makes some decent plays in pass coverage, but when he blows a coverage, holy hell does he blow a coverage.

    Nice heart from the team. The OL sacked up in the 2nd half and Golic finally figured out what the GD snap count is. Well, the important thing is that we got there and picked up the W.

    Risky move by Kelly today. He didn't want to risk Golsen taking another head shot today and not being ready to go Mon. at practice. He'll be chomping at the bit next week to get it on with OK. He'll need to keep his poise next week. We can't have another performance like the Mich. game.

    Congratulations, things did not look good for awhile late in the game.

    Lunch Pail win...team just gutted it out. I think if Golson had been 100% it would have been a bigger win, but I'll take the 3 point win.

    Great 2nd half by both the defense and the OL. Theo and Cierre had a great games, just lowered their shoulders and pushed through. I was more than a little surprised that Theo was caught from behind I thought he was faster than that.

    Tommy, inspite of being the "best pre-snap" QB, is definitely limited. Since he is Zero threat to run the ball, they can just drop 7 or 8 into coverage and he doesn't have anywhere to go with the ball.

    Win #7, feels good!

    Sarcasm is always appreciated here. ;)
    I was hoping to catch some of our regulars here today, but it appears everyone was glued to the set. My normal game day venting spots are all overrun with Alabama fans who have gone from ignoring us, to declaring us the most overrated team in the nation. I think they are getting concerned. That being said, it makes in game talk not fun and I'm sure as hell not heading to NDNation.

    A win is a win is a win...

    1. As I said, Tommy is a good relief pitcher...
    2. Oline looked good today.
    3. Theo had a career game.
    4. BYU's defense is not as good as Stanford, but they're good.
    5. BYU's second TD should not have counted. Even Mark May said, "the ball obviously hit the ground." We got robbed on that one like the Knott's Berry Farm train...
    6. Danny Spond looks better and better every week. He makes it very difficult for opponents to throw short and underneath. He got his first int today...
    7. Brindza finally had an off day.
    8. I can think of a hundred ways to use Hendrix. How many can you think of? Next year will be even more interesting with all of these QBs returning plus Malik Zaire and the red-shirt finally off of Gunner...
    9. Why the lack of discipline today? I know that Farley and Niklas are only 19, but there is no excuse. They hurt the team at critical moments, because they couldn't control their temper.
    10. We survived the trap game. Some players were looking back at Stanford; others were looking ahead to Oklahoma. Now it doesn't matter. The Irish are in the spot they wanted to reach. The team should now get a BCS game no matter what, and a chance at the grand prize is now possible if they win Saturday and on Thanksgiving weekend here in LA...

    I'll elaborate on a couple of Jim's points..

    1. Golson is much harder to defend. Tommy's role is to come in when the pressure gets to Golson whcih it does.

    2. O -Line looked great. Two 100 yard rushers and Rees is still alive.

    5. Agreed. That call and several stupid Irish penalties are the only thing that kept this one close.

    6. Spond has really closed the corners down.

    I wonder what the BYU kid said to Nikklas, they were jjust standing there jawing and Troy whacked him in the helmet. Did he call him a pussy or insult his mamma? I wonder if the BYU kid was from SoCal and had a previous confrontation with Troy in high school.

    Corey, in the interest of friendship and mutual respect, I found a statement you made about Rees on which we both agree. I'm going to hang onto that statement.......
    :wink:

    Was it Nix who had the facemask penalty near the end. Did he think the QB was not going to be hit by a teammate long before he made yardage needed for a 1st down? That penalty alone could have been disastrous. Without it, the game is over.

    A great big WHEW! on winning despite the stupid penalties and missed FGs..

    Sid I agree that the Nix penalty was at a critical time and could have changed the game. However, I cut the big guy some slack because he doesn't have a history of doing that and it wasn't a selfish think like Nikklas. On the opening drive we had the ball in the red zone. We had to settle for a FG attempt by Dr. Strangefoot. However, before that we had an O lineman jump the snap, Golic. You'd think that after 3 jumps last week he'd get through the first series without doing it again. Maybe he needs his ear wax cleaned out.

    Gip, good points re: Nix' and Niklas' penalties.

    Dr. Strangefoot. LOL!

    Re: Golic. It's interesting to me that after that penalty, you could see Kelly scolding Cave about something. Makes me wonder if Golic's jump was due to something being wrong with the center snap. Whatever the case, they need to correct it fast.

    I'll be shocked if Oklahoma is not favored by at least a TD, maybe more, despite being ranked lower than ND. This is the first game so far this season that I'm feeling very uneasy about. I've been nervous before some other games but not downright uneasy.

    <t>Too many mistakes and penalties. No one should question why Rees should NOT be the STARTER now RIGHT? He can't escape the pass rush/blitz. Can't run with the ball etc, etc. Backup yes, starter no. <br/>
    <br/>
    We won the game. Wasn't pretty. Credit O-line and RBs plus Eifert and of course the DEFENSE. <br/>
    <br/>
    We are 7-0, yes that right, 7-0! Anybody in their right mind who says this team won't win 9 or 10? ANYBODY? I thought so. <br/>
    <br/>
    On to the wacky word of mini horse and wagons coming out of the tunnel and running around the stadium. Look out SOONERS, here come the IRISH!</t>

    On another front the Irish Icers split a pair of games with formidable UMD this weekend. Off to a good start. 3-1

    I can also make the case that without Tommy Rees the Irish are 4-3 right now. I don't feel good at all about this week's game in Norman with Golson under center.
