Parker Boudreaux ended up at UCF. Good luck to him.

I don't know where OL recruiting is going, we have 2 guys committed and both of them are 3 star rated and not likely to be the type who come in ready to play. There is a kid named Nicolas Petit-Frere from Fla who is a 5 star kid and if he comes that will be very good. But probably need to take 4 guys this year now that we've lost 2. 2018 is not supposed to be a great year for OL.

Braden Lenzy just flipped from ND to Oregon. According to Pete Sampson this was a little bit of a surprise, he gave no warning that he was about to flip.

    :p

The QB that Kelly and Rees were after at the Irish Invasion is Ryan Hillinski. His father played at Damien HS, but he has all the loyalty of a reptile. He refused to send his kid to his alma mater and shopped him around instead. As a freshman, the boy played at Upland HS. I saw him play there and he's the real deal. Last year, he was at Olu (Orange Lutheran HS) and current rumors have him at J Serra HS...

BTW- I've talked to the father before and my grandson knows his kid...

He will be a fine QB for somebody......if he's the starter. If not, he'll just transfer somewhere else. Who knows? He could be our Todd Marijuanavich......

LOL! I remember well the SI article and watching him play in ND Stadium. In a way, you have to feel kind of sorry for him the way his father "built" him physically but ruined him mentally. However, because he was a Trojan, I have no pity.

    Terry, who is Braden Lenzy?

Picked up a TE from Fla, George Takacs. Good player and one that has been considered our most likely verbal at TE given our depth chart there.

I'm sure they offered him a better comp plan. Plus those cheerleaders.

Well it turns out his dad works for Nike and he's a really good 400m and 200m runner. Oregon has a top notch track program and ND has a track program. So maybe this was never going to work.

But George Takacs said when he announced his verbal...We're going to win a lot of games!

Is Ryan Hillinski the son of Scott Hillinski?

Irish Basketball picks up a Guard in Rob Carmody from Mars PA. I don't really follow basketball recruiting that much, but from what I read everybody is pretty thrilled to get him.

Irish Womens basketball picked up a highly ranked recruit in Anya Peoples from Danville Illinois. She is also a guard and is a 2019 recruit. Again from what I read Irish fans are very happy with her verbal.

    I haven't followed this thread, but since most of y'all don't follow Cleveland;

It's a long, long way to Tipparary, for sure, but the coaches and sportswriters appear to be quite impressed with DeShone Kizer. Everybody knew he had the arm but whether he had enough experience and could adapt to the pro game were big questions, as you know. He started out at #3 on the chart. He's probably still there but he's picking up the offense and the verbiage quite well, and as dazzling as some of his throws were, they've apparently gotten even more reliable since they shortened his stride a bit.

Time will tell...I hope they don't throw him in too early (this is the Browns, you know)...but they do need to see what he's got.

Also, Terry, Brock Osweiler seems to be doing ok and no reports of issues with him. I think he's #2 behind Cody Kessler.

I hope Kizer does well in Cleveland, I think he has a lot of upside. He's got a NFL body and a very strong arm. Last year really hurt him in the draft, he had a new set of young WR's and I think that made a lot of difference in his performance but maybe it was something else. Seems like a really good kid though who will work hard and not be a problem off the field.

As far as Brock goes, he still gets knocked on all the sports talk shows, no matter what he says or does. Clearly he was terrible last year here, but publically he seemed like a good guy who took responsibility for his poor play. After he left rumors started going around that he and O'Brien didn't have a good relationship and that Brock was not good in the QB room. I don't know, but I hope he does well. As I said he seemed like a good guy.

There is a good article on Cole Kmet, the freshman TE from Illinois. He was named the Tribune/WGN Prep Athlete of the year for his accomplishments on the football field and the baseball field. He apparently is a really good baseball player as well as great prospect at TE.

Irish had 2 pitchers (both by the Astros) taken in the MLB draft. So there is opportunity. I do wonder if Aoki will be back for the 2018 season. If he's not going to be back I expect that Swarbrick will fire him soon after the end of the CWS. But Swarbrick has had no comment on the program at all. He fired the Golf coach right after the ACC tournament, hasn't named a new coach yet.

Good story on Sheldon Day one of my favorite players from recent teams.
