Worse we'll have to put up with the fact that Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in football and is furiously rebuilding Michigan into the Evil Empire of old. I like Brian Kelly in general and think he's done a good job getting us back to being a consistently good program, but other than the Manti Te'o defense we've been soft on that side of the ball and we've not been what I'd call a tough team. Those are hallmarks of Harbaughs teams. So unless something changes I feel we'll be at a disadvantage in the coaching box. Teams do over come that of course. Dabo Swinney is no Nick Saban but with DeShaun Watson he almost beat Alabama last year. If Michigan has the kind of year that many think they are capable of it will be interesting to see what kind of pre game and post game verbal war comes out from Harbaugh vs Ohio State. I've of course never liked Harbaugh from his days as a UM QB to his days as a Indianapolis Colt, and at every stop. But I'll give him his due, he builds tough winning football teams.
Well it's official Sept 1, 2018 ND/UM at South Bend Oct 26, 2019 ND/UM at Ann Arbor Interesting that we are playing in late October. There was a time that no Big 10 team would play a non-conf game that late. That was why the ND/PSU series went south, when PSU joined the B10 they couldn't play us in Oct/Nov when we usually played.
Irish and TCU also talking about playing. The linked article is sort of funny in that they describe ND as a has been program but it's still worth the trip to ND stadium to play in front of TD Jesus and thousands of Rabid Catholics. http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/mac-engel/article88038037.html
I see the writer's from Indiana. He does pay ND a back door compliment at the end by calling us the Cowboys (America's Team) of college football. Who knows where we and TCU will be in 2025?
Very happy to see the series resumed although road games at South Bend, East Lansing, and Columbus will make the 2018 season a tough one. Pretty clear that M moved off a prior non negotiable position--game could not be scheduled during conference season--in order to secure an agreement. Looks like your AD got our AD to blink.
C.J. Holmes just committed to ND. He's from Conn, and is ranked the #5 all purpose back by Rivals. Irish see him as a CJ Prosisse type of player. I'm not a big fan of these kids making videos, but then I'm 70. You can see it here http://notredame.247sports.com/Article/BREAKING-CJ-Holmes-commits-to-Notre-Dame-46142314 I have to say it's pretty creative, had to take some time. Robt Hainsey an OL is also widely expected to give his verbal to the Irish soon.
Jamie Uyeyama doesn't seem to think he's a RB though. He had this to say But others think he's a RB and that he might be the only RB taken in this class with 4 guys already on the roster for 2017 in Adams, Williams, and the 2 freshmen coming in this year in Tony Jones Jr and Deon McIntosh
Oh yeah Darnell Ewell a NG is also expected to choose the Irish sometime soon. Staff very high on the kid.
I think Kelly is an excellent recruiter and has done a very commendable job for the Irish. Bobda, I have always enjoyed the series as well, of course, I will be rooting for Michigan and the B!G Ten Conference! Personally, I am happy to see Harbaugh at Michigan. That will make the rivalry between the Buckeyes and Wolverines that much more interesting.
ND <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> I just don't get it? If ND was in the Big 10 I would still root against Michigan no matter who they played. Even more so now with Khaki pants as the HC. <E></E><br/> <br/> I guess I'm just not a CONFERENCE type guy.</r>
Tim, A lot of people feel the way you do as well. I may be an exception! I wish the Irish well this season.
Tim, I know how you feel. I just can't make myself root for Auburn, but I do generally pull for other SEC teams when they play out of conference.
I'm not a root for the B12 out of conference either. Mostly I do but each game is it's own set of circumstances. I doubt that I'd ever root for Michigan either though. I do root for the Aggies though which is unusual amongst the Longhorn Fandom.
Don, I root for Big 10 teams when they play non conference teams although I did cheer for Alabama over MSU. Probably watched as much of the Bucks bowl game as M game against the Gators.
Totally unrelated to anything, but former ND OL Trevor Robinson got married in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the ND campus. Only reason I even know is that Michael Floyd was in for the wedding and afterwards had a run in with the local South Bend Cops and he posted some tweets (now deleted) that indicated he felt he was a victim of racism by the cops. Trevor Robinsons Wedding Good read on the couple and how they met, she is btw a St. Mary's Grad.
Hainsey the OL from IMG Academy gave his verbal to the Irish tonight. Very good pickup for the Irish. Need to get a couple of more OL's still though.
